Willow squeezed her eyes shut and leaned into the Doctor, silently praying that they wouldn't sense her fear. Her breathing slowed as they hopped on another computer panel on front of the one they were hiding under.
The figure grabbed a device from their belt and flipped a switch. The sound of static filled the room, making everything a bit less stressful. They brought it to their lips and spoke in a deep and gruff voice.
"When'll the king give the thumbs up, Lartron?"
"Soon enough. Be patient, Urion."
"How can I? We haven't destroyed a planet with billions of organisms in months! I can't wait to take them all out and hear their cries!"
Willow frowned and was about to tell him off until the Doctor quickly clamped a hand over her mouth.
Urion leaned back in his seat and tucked one muscular arm underneath the other holding the speaking device.
"We just need to wait for the king to calm down. I'm not trying to get killed by stepping in front of that."
Urion chuckled. "That Rank 1 pilot wasn't so lucky though, eh? Heard he got stabbed by the king 27 times."
Willow let out a small gasp as she recalled the dark blue substance covering Talcone.
"27? I could've done better than that," bragged Larton. "He was annoying too. Totally deserved it."
"Assholes," Willow murmured beneath the Doctor's hand, who in turn pressed harder on her lips.
Urion clicked a few keys before grabbing the device again. "Can't believe I got sent to guard here. A bunch of commanders were telling me that the girl and the other human was gonna try to get into the base, but I clearly see nothing. Waste of time."
The Doctor wrinkled his nose and mouthed human? to Willow, who shrugged in turn.
"You know what to do with 'em if they do come around, right?"
"'Course," Urion whipped out a small metal stick that looked very similar to Talcone's before it enlarged. He grinned and twirled it around with one hand. "One hit with this and they're nothing but dust. Anyway, I'd better sign off before Sergeant taps into the radio system again." Urion flipped the switch a second time and the fuzzy sound of static ceased. He sighed and leaned back even farther in his chair, as if he was already tired from this simple job. Willow warily stared at the small device that wove around Urion's hand over and over again. There was no way she was going to get shot with that… thing. She tapped the Doctor's shoulder and widened her eyes, a nonverbal way of saying "now what do we do?"
The Doctor furrowed his eyebrows and ran a hand through his hair. After some time, his eyes brightened, and he pointed at Willow. He then lowered his arms in front of him, palms down. He pointed to himself and mimed a person walking using his index and middle finger up to the control panel. He pretended to type on a keyboard before whipping out his sonic from his suit pocket and pointing it at where the imaginary computer was. The Doctor stuffed his screwdriver back in his pocket and gave a thumbs up to Willow, who stared blankly at him.
What the hell was that? She mouthed.
The Doctor threw his head back and slapped his hand onto his forehead in exasperation.
Just stay here, he mouthed back, pointing his finger down at the ground.
Willow frowned. What? No way!
The Doctor did something like an inaudible groan, if that were possible. Not the time, Willow.
Willow wrinkled up her face and rolled her eyes. Fine, she mouthed and folded her arms.
