I long for much brighter days,
When the sun will eliminate all the hateful haze.
I long for much more peaceful times,
Times of loyalty and of the loving kind.
I am longing to live to see the age,
In which we do not place ourselves in a needless cage.
And if it be my time to go comes at a faster speed,
I am longing for future generations to hear this plea.
We are clothing our skins with hatred and dark fires,
That burn and contort our twisted desires.
But the past is the past, a lesson or not,
The future is what WE make it, unifying ourselves in peace must be sought.
So be to each other, the face of compassion,
Love your friend and enemy, with no order or fashion.
These people are your mirror, family, and future,
Housing them as if they were you, teaching kindness and helping to inspire.
The person beside you, right or the left,
Is your equal, not challenger, so never think yourself as ahead.
And so let yourself long for those much brighter days,
But more than longing, BRING that tomorrow towards today.
Strip yourselves of the clothing that reeks of senseless hatred and pain,
Instead exude to others fairness far beyond needed, and watch what you'll gain.
Cast away that overwhelming darkness and let the past begin to inspire,
After all this is America and here
WE FLY HIGHER.
