-teagan's pov-

I immediately switch into panic mode when I wake up groggily in an unusually dark room. I don't know where I am, where my friends are, how I got here, and, most importantly, who the arm wrapped tightly around my waist belongs to. So, you can imagine my surprise when Gray's face appears in front of me as I begin to thrash around in the comforter wrapped around me.

"Woah, woah, woah, what the fuck are you doing?" His voice is a little raspy. "It's four in the morning."

"What do you mean 'what am I doing?" I whisper. "Where the hell am I? Where the hell are we? How did we get her-"

"Teagan it's kind of a long story." His jaw ticks with an untold emotion, but when our eyes meet I can't miss the fire burning within them.

"What happened?" I ask quietly. Slowly realizing my lack of memory of the night before. My breathing picks up pace.

"Look, it was Maddie and Luca." Gray starts, he seems to have shaken the sleepiness from himself when the subject comes up. My hands start to shake, a nervous tick I've had for a long time, so I tuck them into the pocket of the gray hoodie that I've just realized I'm wearing. "They- they put something in your drink. I'm sorry T I should've known..." Gray continues to speak but everything he says goes in one ear and out the other. I can't focus. Luca makes sense to me, but Maddie? I'd definitely noticed something off about her in the past couple of weeks, but I guess I never thought she was that kind of person. She was the first friend I'd made, and I trusted her. A wave of hurt rolls through me at the realization of her true intentions. Could Sam and Leila be on the same page? A stray tear rolls down my face. I know I haven't known this group of people for very long, but I still feel as though I'd connected with each one of them.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by a hand wiping the tear off of my face. Gray's gone from laying down to sitting in front of me.

"Please stop doing that." He reassures me. "You don't need to cry. No one knew that Maddie would do anything like that." I nod my head at him and slow down my breathing.

"Sorry."

"Stop apologizing so much."

"So-" He slaps his hand over my mouth and raises an eyebrow, resulting in a small giggle from me. "Okay, okay. I'll stop apologizing." I tell him, grateful that he's been able to somewhat lift my spirits.

"Good." I look around and notice the darkness we're sitting in once again.

"So what happened? More specifically."

"Well, we went to that party, you went to get a drink with Maddie, the next thing I know you're stumbling up to me." His shoulders are visibly tense. "You tried to tell me what happened, but you were pretty out of it so I just took you here. My house."

"Fuck." My stomach drops with the realization of what really happened last night. Hearing the general idea is one thing, but hearing what actually happened is another.

"Tell me about it. I hate that this shit keeps happening to you." I tuck my hair behind my ears.

"At least we know what Maddie's real intentions are now." I point out, still trying to look for some sort of silver lining.

"I guess so. I wish I would've seen it sooner." I nod to agree with him, although I find it hard to believe that Maddie felt this way from the beginning.

"I'll be okay. My head hurts a little but I survived." I tell him part of the truth while I chuckle. My head, in reality, is pounding and I overall feel like shit, but I'd at least made it out of there with minimal damage. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't found Gray, but I assume it would have been a much different situation.
