(Huey's POV continued)

"Awww c'mon, mane!" Riley whines. "Zendaya ain't gon' do shit! We finna die here!"

"I don't wanna shoot anyone!" Jazmine cries.
"Jazmine, calm down. You're not shooting anyone...unless push comes to shove."
"Huey!"
"Jazmine, it's fine."
"I can just call the police, and they'll handle everything safely."
"I don't want to risk Riley and Cindy's dumb asses going to jail for being involved."

"Hey!" Riley and Cindy shout in unison.

Jazmine takes a breath to calm herself. "...OK... What do you want me to do?"
"You're going to have to sneak in here," I say.
"Ohmigod..."
"Thankfully, the back door is unlocked so you can get in through there. We just need you to quickly sneak in here, free us, then we'll escape."
"OK..." her voice is quiet and uncertain. "I'm getting out of the car now."

She hangs up.

A minute later, she appears in the window and waves to us. Then, she runs to the back door. The door knob slowly twists and gives a barely audible click. It slowly opens with a low pitched squeal. And when there's just enough space, Jazmine squeezes her little body inside, closing the door behind her.

"Oh, the half white angel has arrived to save us," Ruckus coos in admiration.

"Ed, what the hell is takin' so long?!" we hear Rummy shout from the basement. "How hard is it to find a big ass chainsaw?"
"I can't find the mothafucka!... Oh, wait. Got it!"

Everyone's eyes go wide as we hear footsteps getting louder from the hall. Jazmine bites her lip and freezes up in a panic.

"Hide behind the couch!" I whisper.

She scurries across the room over towards the door where the couch is then dives behind it.

Rummy and Ed come up out of the basement and appear in the hallway again. Rummy carries jumper cables and a car battery booster. Ed follows behind him with a huge orange chainsaw.

"Y'all ready for a lil' action?" Ed smirks.
"Ed, please," Riley pleads. "We ain't wanna take it this far. We just wanted to slash da nigga's tires or spray paint his house or somethin'."
Rummy sits the cables and booster on the table.
"Sorry, Riley," he says without reluctance. "What we have here is a racist," he refers to Ruckus. "And we don't take kindly to racists."
"I don't take kindly to them either!" I interject. "I can't stand Ruckus and I'm all for black empowerment, but you don't see me tryin' to saw him in half or fry him to death!"
"Listen, to the lil' darkie-I mean-Huey," Ruckus says. His expression is remorseful. "I promise to God that I will turn over a new leaf if you let me go!" he begs.
"It's too late fo' that," Ed says.

Rummy lifts Ruckus' shirt, then he attaches the cables to his nipples, making Ruckus yelp.

"Please, don't do this!" Ruckus sobs.

"We gonna electrocute em and cut em at the same time?" Ed asks Rummy.
"Yeah." Rummy nods.

"No!"

Everyone directs their attention towards Jazmine, who's shot up from behind the couch and anxiously looking at the scene.
