*Mark POV*

Why the hell would Shalltear come and check on me?
I mean, it's not like I didn't appreciate the gesture, but it felt a bit weird.
And the thing about the...involuntary affection left me a bit weirded out, since I don't feel any involuntary affection towards her.
By the way I don't even think it's possible to distinguish between an involuntary affection and a normal one.

"So…let's try to recap." I say as I get up from my bed and start walking up and down my room.
"I've been...taken into custody by a vampire, who I discovered to be a loyal servant of our new king, Ainz Ooal Gown. Then I've been turned into a vampire by her, and I've been given a new home in the Great Tomb of Nazarick. I've sworn my loyalty to King Ainz and to Shalltear, and...I underwent some "training" and I defeated an apparently overpowered creature for this world, I don't even know how. Then today, it's Shalltear's free day, and also mine as it seems. And I have no idea on how to occupy my time."

Yeah, that's a nice recap of the things that happened. I just needed to do it to ascertain everything that happened really happened.
So...now how am I going to occupy my time when I'm not doing something for Shalltear?

I start by opening the closet, and what do you know? It's empty.
Then I open some drawers and I find they're all empty as well.
Great.
As I distractedly take a look at a desk at the corner of the room, I see something on top of it.
There's...my diary, the pen I bought the time I stole money from Gauff, my knife and my necklace with the snake's tooth that I made that time I ran into a snake in the woods.
All my most precious belongings.
And there's a note on top of it all.
With shaky hands, I take the piece of paper in my hands and start reading.

"These, I believe, are your personal belongings. I took them from your home the night I bit you and I brought them here. I also took the liberty of reading your diary, I hope you won't mind! Who am I kidding, of course you won't mind, because if you do I'm going to murder you!
Sincerely,
Shalltear Bloodfallen."

That was so nice of her! But how the hell did she know what were my...oh right.
Mind reading.
Even if that "I'm going to murder you" part could have been a bit...nicer, I appreciate the gesture.
But she read my diary.
God fucking dammit, now she's gonna have eternal possibilities to pick on me and laugh at me.
Oh well, I guess that's a small price to pay for salvation. Or something.
I guess I can write something down in my diary. The last time I wrote about something was the night after I met Shalltear and…
Oh fuck.
She read that page too didn't she?
The one where I call her an arrogant midget, yeah.
Well this isn't good.
"Goddammit…" I mutter as I start writing on my diary.

Then a knock on the door.

Okay, who the hell would want to see little old me? I'm basically a stranger to everybody here.

As I open the door I find another maid in front of me, but she's much younger than that Solution I met when I woke up and the warm smile on her face is pretty reassuring.
She looks to be a bit younger than 20 or something.
I take a perplexed look at her for a second, then I smile awkwardly and wave.
"You're...Mark, right?" The girl asks.
She's got a very light and pleasant voice.
"Y-yes, that's me. And may I know who I'm talking to?" I ask politely.
"Oh, sorry! I forgot to introduce myself! I'm one of the maids of Nazarick and I work here. You can call me Tuare."

Tuare…

I shake her hand and give her an interrogative smile.

Is she human? She looks human, but Solution did as well and I'm pretty sure she wasn't.
