"Liar!"
"Shalltear! You are one of the guardians of Nazarick, but I can't always take your word as true. I can't tell when you're lying or not, but I can with him. Now, tell me what happened." Ainz orders me.
"Yes, your majesty. I was-"
I stop talking as I feel a very strong pain in my chest and cough some blood out, then I let out a moan.
Then I catch my breath for a few seconds and I wipe my mouth clean.
"I apologise, y-your majesty." I stutter.
"Do not worry. If I'm going to punish you I at least want to know why. Please go on."
"I was in my room, and...I was crying, when Sh…Lady Shalltear came in and she told me I had to dust the furniture in her room, so I walked out avoiding eye contact, and then she called me back because she realized I didn't know where the duster was, so I looked at her and she faked being worried when she saw I'd cried. And if I must be honest, that made me quite angry and I walked away to clean. Then after I was done, I ran into Lady Albedo, then after that I thought some...unkind things about Lady Shalltear, and since she was reading my mind she “heard” it all. And then she slammed me against the floor a couple of times, and here I am.”
After I finish I take a very brief look at Shalltear and I immediately regret looking at her.
“Shalltear.” I hear Ainz’s deep voice resounding in the throne room.
“Yes, Lord Ainz.”
“Why do you read his mind?”
“L-Lord Ainz, it’s…I mean, it’s-”
“If I may interrupt, your majesty, I believe it is because she likes toying around with people.” I interrupt Shalltear’s blabbering and I feel another bad pain in my chest, just like I was stabbed.
“Hm. Shalltear, I understand that you want to keep him in check, but everybody needs their own private space. Plus, you still haven’t told him the truth. Do you know Shalltear has been lying to you this whole time?”

Oh, the hell I do, thanks to a little somebody called Sebas.

“Yes, your majesty. I am aware of the fact that she intends to kill me, but I do not know any other details.”

This is quickly escalating into something serious, all because of the schizophrenic vampire 3 meters to my right.

“Well, only Shalltear is aware of the details, but she still isn’t sure on what to do with you. Isn’t that right, Shalltear?”
“Yes, Lord Ainz.”
“Well, now I’ll consider this matter to be settled, and I don’t want to hear about any other events of this kind. Understood?”
“Yes.” Shalltear and I say together.
“Good. Now you are free to go. Mark, you should head to your room. I will get somebody to heal your wounds.” Ainz says calmly.
“Thank you so much, your majesty.” I stutter and walk out of the throne room.
As soon as I’m outside I speed up my walk and start heading to the passage connecting the 10th floor to the 9th.
“It hadn't been that long since somebody treated me like trash...good thing I’m used to it.” I whisper to myself at some point.
“You’re a resilient piece of shit, aren’t you?” I hear a familiar voice say behind me, and after that a creepy giggle.
“Aren’t you satisfied with what you’ve achieved, Lady Shalltear?” I hiss and don’t turn around or stop walking.
“Turn around and look at me.”
I do as Shalltear tells me and I give her an exasperated face.
“Just leave me alone, alright? I can’t be bothered to do this right now…” I whine and yawn.
“My my, you really like picking on him, don’t you Shalltear?”
I see Albedo’s figure slowly walking down the hallway and stopping in front of Shalltear, then she looks down at her and smiles arrogantly.
“What is it this time, Albedo?” Shalltear mutters and looks away.
“Nothing, my little fake boobs. I just wanted to congratulate you for your outstanding intelligence.”

Wait, did I hear correctly?

“That look on your face suggests you don’t know, hm? Shalltear here uses too many breast pads.” Albedo says taking a quick look at me.
What she said makes me smile in a very amused way, and seeing Shalltear blush does it even more.
