These three days have been some of the most boring and bland in my whole life. I didn't torture any humans, I didn’t kill any, I didn’t have any interesting conversations, I didn’t do anything interesting. I’ve been always sitting in the throne room or in the room assigned to me, doing nothing. The most exciting thing I did was taking a look at some maps yesterday, and even that was very boring.
"I don't believe you have been enjoying yourself these past days, am I right Shalltear?"
Well he's a smart one isn't he?
I take a quick and annoyed look at Demiurge and nod, letting out a sigh.
"I thought so. I myself have found this…trip to be quite uninteresting. There hasn't been much to do these days, especially with the fact that human cities are very bland and unoriginal."
Demiurge has a weird grin on his face. Not the usual one, this time he's got the "I'm going to say something interesting but I'll make you wait" one.
"Yes, they are. There's nothing to do around here! Humans are such a boring and insignificant race…"
"Indeed. But they are the only race worth ruling on this planet." He adds, raising his index finger up in the air.kHe always sees things from a…professional point of view. I'm not saying that's bad, it's just...it gets a bit annoying sometimes.
"I guess you're right…still, they're one of of the most stupid and useless kinds of beings. The only good thing about them is that they scream a lot." I point out and shrug.
"By the way, Shalltear, you should get to the throne room, Lord Ainz has a message for you." Demiurge announces, then he smiles and walks away from me.A message, he said…I'm curious. This palace is well furnished, at least, but I really hate staying here. I don't have any of my clothes, or any of my things! Plus, I think I miss Mark…even though I'm not completely sure.
The throne room's doors are open, I can see all the way down to Lord Ainz's throne. I slowly step inside and I stop at a good enough in front of the throne, kneeling down and bowing my head.
"You called for me, Lord Ainz?" I ask politely.
"Yes, Shalltear, in fact I did. I am here to communicate you that you are free to go back to Nazarick."Wait, did I hear correctly? I'm free to return to Nazarick?
"W-why is that, Lord Ainz?" I ask very confused but happy at the same time.
"Your presence here in E-Rantel is no longer needed. In addition, I got news that you have been quite…down in the dumps, these past days, and since it's any good leader's job to look after their servants, I want you to be happy and healthy like everybody else. Go ahead and go back to Nazarick. I understand that being away from him right now can be painful."Ah. So he knows. But how? Somebody must've spilled the beans...and I wanna bet Mark was the one to do it. But by now there's no reason to point fingers.
"W-well, thank you so much, Lord Ainz. Your kindness is truly unrivaled. With your permission." I answer blushing a little and I walk out of the throne room normally and slowly, like I always do. Then as soon as I'm outside the throne room, and most importantly out of sight, I rush to my room, grab the few things I'd brought with me and put them in my personal gate, and I walk up to the castle's rooftop. As I reach the highest guard tower, I get in my battle armor and start flying to Nazarick as fast as I can. There's a nice view from up here I must say. The mountains in the distance, the countryside below me, some scattered farm houses, and the orangish light of the sunset. Night is coming, and everybody knows night is the time of the day vampires prefer.
Hey, that's Nazarick on the horizon! I'm almost there, fortunately!
I start descending from the sky and I land in front of Nazarick's entrance. I get out of my armor and I start going down the entrance stairs, until I find myself on the soft and dark red carpet covering the halls' floor.
I need to go to my room to freshen up a little, but something is telling me I shouldn't. And that something is also telling me I should go to Mark's room.
I decide to completely forget about my room and snap my fingers, creating a Gate that will get me straight in front of Mark's. As I walk through and find myself there, I see the door is closed, probably locked. But I won't be stopped this easily. I knock a few times, and wait in silence
"I'm busy…" Mark's tired and muffled voice says from the other side.
"Mark, open up. It's an order from your boss." I declare in a very authoritarian tone, very excited to hear his voice. I hear some thuds and some weird noises from the other side, probably caused by him tripping on something, and then the door opens.Oh, jeez…he doesn't look good.
"Boss? Why are you-"
"Call me Shalltear. That's an order." I say and I look into his bloodshot and half closed eyes. As soon as I say that, his red eyes literally light up for a split second and he takes a step back.
"You want to come in?" He asks, looking like he was just reborn. He's clearly trying to hide his excitement. And, well, so am I. And we're both terrible at it.
I nod and take a few steps forward, and only as Mark sits on his bed do I notice the open wound on his arm.
"Mark what the hell happened to your arm?" I ask worried and walk up to him. He looks down and keeps his head down, biting his lip.
"Mark. Talk to me."What the hell did he do this time?
"I…had a sort of panic attack." He mutters, in the tone of a kid telling his mother he broke something.
"But why? And look at me when I'm talking to you." I order and narrow my eyes by a millimeter. Mark suddenly looks up, with a light blush on his cheeks.
"Because I missed you. And I was going crazy. That's why."Oh…that explains it…
I slowly reach out with an arm and I lay my hand on his left cheek.
"You idiot…" I mutter, with a resigned smile on my lips, then I lean closer to him, and I kiss him lightly and softly, just for a second. His eyes are begging for more. And to be frank, that's exactly what I'll give him.
I give him another kiss, longer than the last one, but still soft and slow.
"You want more?" I ask after a few seconds, already knowing the answer.
"Yes. Please."I've got him in my grasp now. I can see in his mind that he's been going insane without me these past days, and to be frank I'm quite happy about that. No, actually I couldn't be happier. I want him so bad right now.
I grin just enough to show him a bit more of my fangs, and I casually start playing with the buttons on his shirt, making him keep his eyes on me.
"I'm glad you do. You know, I've kinda missed you these days...we have a lot of catching up to do."
