Hello hello hello, how are y'all doing? I'm sorry again for the lack of updates, but I ended up leaving for another week in the mountains. I don't really have that much time to write or revise chapters, but I managed to save a window to publish this one. Hope you enjoy!
"You've been doing extremely well these past weeks, both in your magical training and in your regular one. Thus, I've decided to test your capabilities once more, and make you fight against Narberal again."
Ah. Well, Cocytos is right, I have improved a lot these past times with my training, especially in the magic department. Narberal helped me find my "hidden talent" and in the space of a few weeks only, I became a magic caster! I worked so hard for it, and had a lot of sleepless nights, but it was worth it. Now, I'm not the most powerful magic caster in the world, but from what I've been able to understand I'm pretty strong for a human. Especially since undead magic works miracles on the living. Or rather, it works curses, but you all get the point.
I'm still a bit weak in defense though, but I've got a few tricks. I can launch smoke clouds and such, to hide myself, but with Narberal that won't work very well since she's based on the wind element.
My overall favorite thing I've learned though are the Spirit Blasters.
They're very strong and precise, and they can also be used as shields. For example I've learned to summon only the upper jaw of one of them, which infact makes it useful as a shield. I've also incremented my mana exponentially, thanks to hours and hours of meditation in my free time. Overall, this past month or so has been very productive. I'm still at a huge disadvantage against Narberal, though. I need to fight her in close quarters, but to do that I need to weaken her first.
At that point, Ainz turns to look at me, letting out a "hmm" and reminding me that he's here as well. The usual reddish flames are flickering in his eye sockets.
"Mark, I can sense you've become a lot stronger in such little time. You've reached an overall rank of 307. To put it in terms you'll understand, Narberal here is rank 395, Shalltear is rank 732 and Cocytus is rank 657."
Interesting…that's good to know.
"Thank you for the compliment, Lord Ainz. It was all due to hard work and dedication."
Narberal is still a good 90...points stronger, and that gap probably lies in magical abilities and mana. But I think this'll be an interesting fight.
Narberal flies in position, a good 10 meters away from me, and a good 2 meters up.
"Begin."
I snap my fingers and I immediately summon two blasters. I shoot only one of them directly at Narberal, making her move aside. As soon as I shoot the first one I shoot the second one in the direction of her dodge and I make her create a magic shield, which was too weak and let the energy beam go through, hitting her in the chest. She doesn't waste any time, though, and throws two bolts of lightning at me. I dodge one and block the other using a blaster as a shield. I throw a few knives at her, but she dodges all of them quite easily and answers with a fireball, which splashes at my feet and throws me back. She then starts throwing a lot of small lightning beams at me, but I've got a trick up my sleeve. I've learned how to use Lesser Teleportation to my advantage. I warp around the area a couple of times, hoping to confuse her. Then, I teleport behind her and summon a blaster, I point my arm at her and the thing fires, hitting Narberal in the back. She flies up higher and throws a very quick magic arrow at me, which skewers me right in the chest, knocking me down on my back.
That kinda hurt...but I can't lose now.
I moan and stand up as the arrow disappears, and I throw a hail of knives at Narberal. A couple hit her and wedge into her armor, kicking her back. She flies a bit downward and raises her right hand; nothing happens for a second, then I see a huge block of…floor being lifted and thrown at me.
