Violet POV
I walk through the front door closing it behind me, with food all over my sweatshirt from lunch. I forgot to bring my spare, I usually do but I forgot today. I don't know why because it's the same every other day. Someone "accidentally" spilling their food on me, or soda gets spilled on me. That's the weekly life of Violet Winter, the school shadow.
I toss my book bag on the couch and strip at the front door. Kicking my shoes off while walking around my house in only my underwear and a tank top. I toss my clothes in the washer and grab an apple from the kitchen. I make my way upstairs and head straight to the bathroom.
I look at myself in the mirror. Dark brown skin, dark brown almost black eyes, long black curly hair. My curls are so small but visible to the eye. I smile and make my way over to my dresser. I slip on a pair of jeans, with a white baggy wool sweater and some grey boots. I grab my satchel and rush over to the kitchen and grab some fruits, berries, and fish. I wrap it all up and place it in my bag with my first aid kit already in and ready.
I rush out of the house locking the door behind and dropping my keys in my bag. I rush out of my house, making my way to the back and through the forest. I love the feeling of the wind as I run through the forest, the fresh scent of pine and maple.
I finally make it to a large clearing in the forest. I sit under my favorite tree and pull out my favorite book, once I open it I can't help but dive into it. Time goes by and I take a small break, I pull out an apple and look around I notice some deers chillin'. I take out a container full of berries and leave some for all of them, they happily eat it.
I can't help but smile, I notice another presence behind me. I notice a family of bears, I walk over to them and give them the rest of the berries and some fish. They happily eat it, so I sit back down and continue to read my book.
I then smell blood, I put my book down and look around to see the strangest thing ever. A deer carrying a small fox, I can see the blood on its bure white fur. I grab my first aid kit and rush over to them. The deer lays down carefully, I thank it and get to work on the fox. Once I find the cause the bood loss I see sharp cuts on it leg. I start to clean up the blood, then I wrap up its leg I watch as it begins to gain consciousness.
"You should be ok now, I'll bring you home."
"No need, but thank you."
I jump and scoot back, "I think I'm going crazy, the fox just talked." She sits up a bit and starts to glow, I watch in aw as it grows in size. Once it's glowing stops I notice it has 9 tails instead of one swinging around. It smiles at me.
"The animals of the forest were right, you do seem to care more than any human I've ever seen. You will be the new guardian."
I start to blink in confusion, "The new what!?"
It starts to glow again, "By the way my name is Red." It was so bright, I covered my eyes. Once the glowing stopped the fox was gone. I look around to see more animals than before bowing down to me.
"What just happened?!"
'We became one~'
"Who?" I look around, 'I'm speaking through your mind, we are one now Violet. You're the next guardian.'
I sit down and take a deep breath, "Tell me what's going on, please explain."
I can feel the joy radiating off of her, 'Well I am a 9 tail fox, a fox spirit. I have been the guardian of the animal of this forest and others across the world. This is my home where I reside, but I grow weak and tired. I need a vessel to take over, someone of with a kind hard and a good conscious. The animals of the forest told me about a human girl to feeds and tends to them from time to time. So I went over, sprinkled little illusions to see if it was true and it was. So I chose you to be the next guardian. You won't be taking too much responsibility until you pass away and your soul dominates mine giving you my knowledge and important memories.'
It takes me a while to process this but I start to understand when I think she's done she continues with something else.
'You also have all my powers as well, would you like to test them out?'
I get up, "Sure, what do I need to do?"
She explains, 'Strip.'
I grow quiet, "HUH?!"
She giggles a bit, 'You are going to transform into you fox form, I don't want you to tear your clothes.' I sigh and proceed to strip, 'Focus, image your body shifting changing into a higher being.'
I follow her instruction, I start to feel open all over.
'Open your eyes.'
I notice my height difference first, I look down to see black paws transitioning to white fur. I then feel the wind on the air and the swaying of my tails. I turn to see 9, all white with black tips and swirls with a hint of brownish orange.
I try to walk forward, it takes me a while to get used to it but I catch on quickly. I walk around until I notice steam. I look at my reflection to see my dark brown eyes, with an orange hue. and the markings on my face.
'With a little more practice you will soon be able to shrink in size and hide 8 of your tails. You'll also be able to realses power balls of energy to protect yourself. If you want to change back just imagine your human self.'
I stay quiet.
'How do you feel?'
I think for a moment, not saying a word as I walk back to the clearing. I change back and put my clothes back on, I grab my stuff and put it in my bag. I look at the resting animals and bow, bidding them farewell.
Once I get home everything finally sets in, "I feel great. I just need some time to adjust Red.' I make my way to the landry room and place my clothes in the dryer. I make my way upstairs and take a soothing shower, once I'm out I dry myself off and do my short and sweet nightly routine.
I turn off the lights and tuck myself in, "Goodnight Red, I'm excited about our future together."
I could feel the warm feeling she gives off from words, "Goodnight, Violet."
