EGYPT CUNNINGHAM
I reached for the Hennessy bottle that sat on the coffee table, popping the cap and taking a swig from it. As the burning sensation rushed down my throat, I allowed a hiss to escape my lip as I shook my head while closing the bottle back.
"Henny for breakfast?" my home boy Jabari laughed, "you must be really hurting..." I glanced over to see him sitting at the little dining table rolling up a little something.
"It was strong enough to get my mind off of it last night." I sat up in the couch and stretched from my night's rest, still holding the bottle in my hand. "And the best way for me to get over this hangover is to get drunk all over again."
"Nah, the best way for you to end up in the hospital is to get drunk all over again." He smirked, meanwhile standing up from his seat. Jabari walked over to me, removing the liquor from my hand, replacing it with the blunt he had just rolled. "That right there, is what you need."
I held it up in the light, nodding at the perfection it was rolled to. "I aint have one of these in forever."
"Even better." He chuckled, tossing me the lighter. "That right there will take your mind off of her."
After leaving the hospital once I found out, I got back to the hotel and packed my things. Thankfully, she was out 'running errands' according to the note she left. I figured that had to be God's way of saving her life because I was honestly heated, beyond measure and her not being there was best.
I scribbled on the back of her note telling her I'd be spending the night out with my boys from college before they headed back to their hometowns. I was actually so grateful that I ran into them the other day, these guys were some of the most animated individuals I knew and being in their presence was what I needed at a time like this.
We met up, spent the night in some bogus, washed up club; it wasn't saying nothing at all, but all I was there for mainly was the drinks which weren't the best, but were enough to get me going at least.
Once we were all buzzed for the most part, we hit up a strip club. Following spending all the money we withdrew, I asked to be dropped off back at the hotel where I just ended up booking around room for myself. This one, on the opposite side of the hotel, I even made sure to upgrade my stay because quite frankly, I deserved it. Out of the three of my boys, one of them opted to stay with me because he was far too drunk to continue with the festivities and after getting a lot of attention from one of the strippers, I knew he had no interest in being out anymore.
As much as I wanted to be alone, I didn't mind having him tag along. Jabari was the one I knew the longest out of them all. He was the quiet one out of the group; you didn't see him out much, he was pretty lowkey, smoked a lot of weed that's for sure but unlike the rest he didn't really like the hype of everything. We were similar in that kind of way; we enjoyed the party but appreciate the silence even more.
We got up to the room I ordered myself a bottle of Hennessy off the menu along with some mediocre appetizers to keep my stomach full. The Hennessy bottle was at half within thirty minutes and the appetizers were far too repulsive for me to actually consume.
Instead, Jabari and I kicked it for a while until I eventually opened up about everything that happened along with the plan. I don't know if it was the liquor, but I felt as though if I held it in for much longer; I would blow. Thankfully, he just listened like I needed him to and once I was done, I was finally able to pass out on the couch.
