Millan's POV:

"Hey, Millan! Wake up!" I stirred at the sound of my name being called. Slowly opening my eyes, I saw my team leader, Jervo, staring down at me like I was a dog. "Its time for the debrief."

I got up, using my hands as balance as I pushed off from the crash seat inside my HEV. Everyone always told me that it was not safe to do that. Somehow I would end up going feet first into hell asleep.

Yeah right.

Streachign my limbs, I followed Jervo down the long corridor, were at either side were rows upon rows of pods just waiting for the green light to get launched down into earth.

"Mind telling me what is going on?" I asked as we reached a circular meeting room right next to the launch area. At the centre stood a table with a holographic projector showing a large Covenant Carrier hovering above and area called Uplift Reserve.

It only took me a minute to figure out what we were going to do, which is what ODST's do best. Drop straight into hell.

I looked around to see two more members of the squad. Jeffries and Niki. Then one quick glance behind my back made me stand at attention as the captain of the Hellfire Revenge entered the room.

"Gentlemen and lady. At ease." With those words I put down my saluting hand and leaned against the table, examining the hologram.

"OK troopers," began Jervo. I could obviously tell that he was acting more 'in duty' due to the captain being in the room. "In twenty minutes we will be dropping down to Old Mombasa, near Hotel Zanzibar, then follow up along a path towards the beach and link up with Marine forces near the entrance to the tunnel that leads to the bridge."

I notced Jeffries rub his face in thought before Jervo continued. "The Master Cheif already rampaged through that area not long ago. Command wants us to go in and get the job done right. That means destroying all of the Anti-Aircraft turrets on the beach and killing of any straglers that might be left in the area."

I looked at the hologram before looking up at Jervo. "If we are dropping near Hotel Zanzibar, then why the hologram of the Carrier?" I reached out and, with a flick of my hand made the image of the carrier smaller before zooming in on Hotel Zanzibar. "The hotel is more than 10 clicks away from the carrier."

I put the hologram back to its origina state, then noticed that Niki leaned closer to it. "That ship is bristleing with plasma turrets," she said, and only then did I see them as she zoomed in on the hull of the ship. "Dropping in too far away from it would mean getting shot down way before the drag chutes even activate."

Then Jeffries got in on the conversation. "So that means that the only safe way to reach Hotel Zanzibar is to drop in next to the ship, and use the one thruster that we have to rearrange our approach vector."

Now I realised what the drop plan was. And now I knew that it was complete scuicide. But at the same time it made tons of scence.

"So its only us dropping in?" I asked to Jervo. Somehow my squad tended to drop in by themselves before everyone else.

"Not this time, Millan," replied Jervo, which really took me by surprise. "We are dropping in with the rest of the 10th. Third Platoon is joining in on the fun, dropping in right by Uplift Reserve to infiltrate the carrier. Gunnery Sargent Buck and his squad will be alongside us."

My eyes wiedened. I had served with Gunnery Seargent Buck in Reach. He actually saved my life when the Covenant began to glass the city New Alexandria. Apparently he had gotten support from a Spartan named Noble Six.

We were First Platoon, always getting dropped first. But to tell the truth, we did not really care what Platoon we were in. No ODST did. If you need us, send us in with a rifle and a pod.
