Tarkov's POV:
I listened attentively as I sat back on the crash seat of my pod, watching the central view screen as the commander began to speak to the rest of the crew.
"Sorry for the quick jump Sergeant. You in one piece?" I heard her ask to a man we all called Sergeant Johnson.
"I'm good. Chief?" replied the Sergent. I had forgotten that the Master Chief was also aboard the ship.
"We are fine," replied Cortana in respose to the question. I then remembered that the Master Cheif had his own personal Smart AI called Cortana that he found was an invaluable asset to the team.
"M'am, there is an object. Coming into view now." Stated one of the engineers. At such an occation, the comander wated all of the crew to be informed. Anything anyone said everyone else could hear.
"Cortana, what exactly am I looking at?" said the Commander. I could hear the confusion in her words.
"That," replied Cortana. "Is another Halo."
My eyes widened as I head the Seargent nearly choke. He had also survied the battle on Alpha Halo. He told me about the flood. It gave me nightmares for weeks.
"When activated this ring will cause distruction on a galactic scale," continued Cortana. I let out a low whistle of surprise at the thought.
A couple more minutes of conversation passed by, where I basically zoned out as I stared at the central view screen where it showed Halo rotating. The Inamber Clad was fitted with the older version of the HEV pods. These were bulkier and had less equipment inside them, but still worked like the newer versions. To tell he truth, I did not care about watching my team members on screen. If the pod could get me down there safe, then it was a good pod.
The green light shone across my pod, my head lurching up violently as the pods fired away from the Frigate and towards the surface of Delta Halo. The objective- Secure a landing zone for Pelican Dropships. I smiled as the pod began to enter atmoshere, the friction causing small flames to form around the walls and underside. We were always sent in to clear out an area before the main force arrived. Or we would be put behind enemy lines to cause havoc. I personally prefered the latter option, but we were trained to do every type of mission.
The ceramic skin of my armor began to burn away as I head the pained screams of some ODST's that began to burn up alive. Fuck, I hated to hear them die like that. I shut off my Com-Link and focused on getting to the ground alive.
Three seconds later the drag chute activated, slowing down my pod enough to effect a safe landing. I also knew that the Covenant had began to fire their Plasma Turrets at us, becuase I could hear the bolts sizleing past me.
I COULD HEAR THOSE THINGS. It was no wonder many ODST's tended to go crazy way before the battle even began. It was all the phsychological effect that came.
With a final shudder, the pod landed stright into the ground. I was now officially on the surface of Halo. The hatch burst open and I quickly stepped out, leveling my BR55 Battle Rifle as three more pods land around me.
Towards the front of me were Covenant forces engaging other troopers that had droped further ahead. A blue Plasma bolt splashed next to my foot, causing me to stagger back. Raising my rifle, I aimed at the Elite that had shot at me and let out three bursts. The first two downed its shields while the third tore through both sides of the skull, causing brain matter to spew onto the ground.
A pair of heavy foot falls made me turn in time to see the Master Cheif step out of his pod, one hand holding an M7 Caseless Sub-Machine Gun and on the other holding a Rocket Launcher.
