I saw my planet get glassed.

Complete orbital bombardment.

All our resources depleted, the fleet obliterated. They left some of us alive to watch.

Ships. Big capital ships hovering in low orbit.

Their underbellies glowing bright, plasma surging through the core.

And then the stream of plasma surging down to the surface of the planet.

Heat so intense that the ground literally turned into glass.

Every square inch covered. Complete total annihilation.

Nothing spared.

Not even the toughest of buildings, buildings built my the military to withstand the toughest forces of nature.

Yet, nothing was natural about a glassing.

Forests burned. Oceans. Whole oceans just evaporated.

Complete orbital bombardment.

The ships move away, they enter slip space and leave.

To find the next planet to burn.

Leaving in their wake a once lush, green, hospitable planet.

Into a desolate, inhospitable, burning wasteland of glass.

If you could bend down and pick it up it would literally be glass.

The surface shining bright with the sun.

Its no wonder soldiers who see it happening go entirely mad.
