I took Ava for a walk and sat with her outside in the yard. I remembered when I first got Ava and she would take her out at night. Ava would curl up in my lap and watch me as I watched the stars. Ava loved the night just as much as me. She would gaze up at the stars with me. I laid back into the grass. I wore a sweater from dad's closet, wooly and warm. I folded my arms behind her neck, against the cool grass and looked straight into the sky. A bright star seemed to stand out. It caught my eye. I slipped my phone out of her pocket and snapped a shot of the sky. The copy didn't seem to shine as bright the one in the sky.
I flipped onto my stomach and stared at the picture. It wasn't good enough. I sat up and raised my phone towards the sky, focusing on the single star. I sent a picture of it to Alex with the caption, "Do you see my favorite star?"
I waited but he didn't reply. I watched the stars for another while, hugging Ava on my lap. My phone lit up long after the sky filled up with the stars. Alex replied.
This one?
Attached to the text was a picture of the night sky. One star shone more spectacular than the rest. It was my star. He found it.
Yes! How'd you find it?
It's right under Urion.
I looked up at the star again.
So it is.
Where are you looking at it from?
On top of the garage
Nice...
You wish I was there, don' t you?
Maybe
Nice answer
Thanks
You're welcome
But really, I do wish you were here. Ava even seems a bit down. You used to always be here. She saw you nearly everyday.
You're gonna have to live with it.
I don't want to.
Me neither...
Freddie seems to be getting worse.
That's horrible.
The nurse came in while I visited him. She never does that. They must have upped his dose.
Ugh, well, if you want we can video chat tomorrow, I'm not working. I still haven't found work. You could take me to see Freddie with you.
Thanks, I could use the support.
No problem. Well, it's late here; I should be getting to bed.
Right, goodnight
Night
I patted my thigh to get Ava's attention. Ava lifted her head from her fluffy paws and yawned. She followed me inside. I got a mug and boiled the kettle. I steeped my tea and stirred in a spoonful of honey. I relaxed in the living room, in a big cozy chair. Ava sat on the couch next to me, resting her head on the arm of the chair. I sipped at my tea. I was thinking about Freddie. When the thought of losing the two most important people to me popped into my distraught mind, I started to cry quietly. After I set my tea down and curled up by Ava's nose, I slowly fell asleep, ocasionally wiping the wetness from my cheek.

So! Chapter 6, well done! You are pretty far into my book. How is it? I hope you like it. It's one of my favourites. I can't wait until you get to my favourite chapter, chapter 14. It's pretty good. :)
Qotp: Who's your favourite character?
Aotp: Ava :)
