"We're going back home right? Te-tell m-me Ze-" Marie fell unconscious against the tall, buff guy standing behind her as Horny slipped out of her hand.

"She'll be in our custody until you finish the mission." The leader told as Marie was dragged away.

"Um-phf! Hm-um-phhh!" Zephany tried to shout at them but her gag was too tight for her to make a noise that made sense.

"Remove the gag. Let the girl speak." The leader ordered.

"Don't do anything to May! She has nothing to do with this!" Zephany shouted as soon as the gag fell to the floor.

"That's what I said sweetheart. Complete the mission and you have Marie back in you tiny little arms!" The leader cooed as he caressed her blood splattered face.

"I'll do what you want! Just don't torture her, she's an innocent kid!" Zephany begged the smirking leader.

"Now that's a good girl!" He petted her head.

"Release the girl." The leader ordered as he turned away from her and walked out of the small basement, with his cloak billowing behind him.

Zephany woke up, as beads of sweat rolled down her forehead and neck. Her gasps echoed throughout the room she had lived in for the past six months.

It was a simple room. A bed in the corner next to the window, a table with some unrecognizable drawings scattered over its surface, a small bookshelf next to the table filled with huge files and a photo album, and a single wardrobe next to the door.

She looked at the clock on the table, which read 5:30 a.m. She changed into her workout clothes and left the room.

She ran as fast as she could passing by no one. She didn't stop running until a whole fifteen minutes after which her muscles yearned for rest. She stopped next to a tree on a footpath and slid down against it, settling for swallowing her saliva instead of water.

Her chest was heaving up and down and her t-shirt was soaked in sweat, but she didn't care.

The only thing that bothered her was that she had the same dream again. Sure, she has missed Marie, after all she didn't see her for nearly two weeks, too busy studing for her mission.

Her only goal in life was to avenge her parents but now it was to finish this godforsaken mission and retrieve Marie safe and sound.

Marie was a thirteen-year-old girl who was diagnosed with littlespace. She had the body of a thirteen-year-old but the mind of a seven-year-old. She was the one who took care of her one day after she was beaten by Mrs. Willows as a punishment. They had subconsciously become best friends.

Marie had a special space in Zephany's heart.

She was the only one for whom Zephany had emotions, pretty, good, soft emotions. She could never think of harming the girl, even under the influence of one of the  strongest drugs.

It was like Marie had imprinted her little hand onto Zephany's heart with such ferocity and love that even death couldn't erase the imprint Marie had made on Zephany's heart.

She missed her dearly. She missed all the dad jokes she would force Zephany to hear, that she learnt from Avery. She missed her whining about how she didn't like her cereal bland, while Zephany loved it. She missed how the smallest of things could make her laugh. She missed how she would collect bugs from the small garden outside and talk her heart out to them.

She missed that pure soul that now she tainted with evil.

Without even her realisation, tears had flowed down her cheeks and dripped to her lap. She couldn't control her emotions anymore, the last time she cried was when Marie was taken away.

She got up making her mind not to cry over the situation, but to finish the damn mission so that she could free Marie.

While walking back home she brought home some supplies from the drugstore. She had not done this in a while, but now, she had to feel the pain, the fury running through her veins.

She had to feel her downfall in order to fly to the peak.

So she cut.

One.

Two.

Three.

This might sound pathetic, but it was her drug. Her drug for self conscious.

To remind her that she is still human, to remind her that she isn't just a psychopath living in a corpse. To remind her that she's got a goal to accomplish and if she failed, then she would fail her only family.

This psychopath had found a life in a lifeless void. She sure as hell could save that life in this lifeless void too.

The pain fuelled her soul. Her soul yearned for freedom, but that can't be achieved until she completes her mission.
