I walked up to my room without any help, except that of the crutches. I've hardly ever been in the wheelchair for the past six months. I was winter now. Dad didn't know I was walking up by myself. He told me to call for him when I needed to go up them. I carefully lifted up one crutch and one foot and then the same with the other.
"Riley honey I'm going- RILEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I jumped at the sound of Dad's yell. My hands slipped off of the crutches and I lost my balance. "RILEY!" I tumbled down the stairs. (I was almost at the top anyway). Gerard ran over to me. "Riley...honey are you okay?"
"I...I can't feel my legs."

"Mr. Way?" the doctor said. Dad turned around and looked at me. I looked away from him. "I'm afraid to say that Riley will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life." Gerard started crying.
"Daddy don't cry....it wouldn't help me anyway." He looked at me.
"Oh Riley..."

We were back at home. Mom and the others were waiting in the living room when we walked into the room.
"Oh Riley!" Mom ran over to me and wrapped her arms around me. "Oh Riley...I'm so sorry."
"It's not your fault." I whispered lightly.
"No...it's mine." I looked at Gerard.
"Dad-"
"Riley I think you would be better off not living with us anymore." My heart stopped.
"What?"
