Melanie watched me with sad eyes as I unpacked my things onto my bed. She walked over and laid a guitar down next to my clothes.
"Gerard brought this by a little bit ago. He said the guys wanted you to have it and that they'll come visit you whenever they can." I looked away from the guitar and rolled the wheelchair away from the bed. "Riley-"
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She fell silent and all that I heard were her footsteps walking away and the door closing. "Stupid Gerard...stupid heart...you knew this would happen...you knew it-it-it was too good to be true!" I buried my face in my hands and placed my elbows on my knees. It wasn't fair! Why? Why can't I have a family?!
"Riley?"
"Go away!"
"Riley honey wake up." Huh? ....wake...up?

"Riley? Riley honey wake up!" I opened my eyes to see the face of my father - Gerard Way. "Honey are you okay?" He looked over my face. "Honey why are you crying?" I dabbed at my eyes.
"I...I don't know." I sat up in bed. He sat next to me.
"Did you have a bad dream?"
"I don't know...I don't know if it was a dream or if it was real." I looked around. I was in my room. Completely done in my favorite color...purple. Just like in my dream. I looked at my legs. I had the braces just like in my dream. I saw the crutches from my dream.
"Honey are you okay?" Gerard felt my forehead. "You had a nasty fall." I looked at him.
"A fall?"
"Yeah. You were going up the steps and yelled for you. I must have scared you. Are you sure you're okay? The doctor said that you would be...but I wanted to make sure."
"You're not sending me back?" He looked at me like I was crazy.
"Send you back? Send you back where?"
"The orphanage," I explained slowly. He looked at me for a minute.
"Orphanage? Why would you be in an orphanage? I'm not dead."
"But...in my dream-"
"Honey. Honey. It was only a dream." He wrapped his arms around me.
"Where's mom?" He stiffened.
