A smile lifted the corner of my lips as I let go of Marco's warm hand. I picked up my tray of mostly finished food and nodded towards the kind male. "Well, hopefully, we'll be able to talk to each other at a later date." With that, I escaped from the clutches of the table and bench and started to make my way towards a trash can so that I could throw away the rest of the food that I had not finished off.
After casting the trash into its rightful place I made my way out of the mess hall and started to go towards the cabins that were for the girls, more specifically the cabin that housed me and would house me for the rest of the three years. In the far distance, I could see three silhouettes, all huddled near each other. I recognized one as Sasha Braus and guessed that there was some good Samaritan who had decided to gift her some food even though the commandment had specifically said that she would not get food the rest of the week. Despite all of this Sasha had also stopped running, though she no longer needed too since the sun had gone down in her favor.
Happiness fluttered inside of me. It was good to know that people in this world were kind and would actually do something to help others instead of leaving them off on the streets or letting them starve. It was better than what I did, that was for certain. Anything would be better than what I had done. I was a murderer, bathing in the fresh blood of my victims. I was no saint.
Taking in a deep breath I turn away from the kind scene and started to make my way towards my cabin once again. It was dark outside, the only light left being that cast off of the moon and that of lanterns that hung off of buildings. I stepped up the small steps to the cabin I was to reside in.
Pushing the door open I found that I was not alone in this room. A certain cadet, Annie Leondheart, also one of my teammates, was already inside, cleaning up her area and making it look nice and tidy. "Annie, so do we have the plan?" Luckily there was no one else in the room to hear us converse.
I myself wasn't actually too fond of the blonde but I couldn't deny that she was the best in a fight when it came to our team. She played the role of a female titan. She had blonde hair that came into a half ponytail-bun thing, pale skin, and beautiful icy blue eyes. "(Y/n), why didn't you come sit with us?" her voice was stern as she called out to me. I didn't even flinch from the coldness of her voice. I was used to getting scolded by her, my family, and my other friends.
"I believed you didn't need me in the conversation. Besides, it's not for three years... That's a long time to kill and-- a long time to get things ready and figure out what we are going to do before the night of graduation..." I looked towards my bed which was in a corner. There was no top bed for it, despite the rest of the beds having a top one to match it.
Girl's things were scattered across the wooden plank floor and the floor creaked as I stepped across it to get to my bed, ignoring Annie's piercing stare.
It was a tense silence as I cleaned up my own area, changed into my pajamas, and got my bathroom utensils. "If you have no response I'm going to go and get ready for the night," I stated dryly as I turned to walk back out to go to the bathhouse.
"(Y/n), wait." I looked towards Annie who only continued to stare at me. "You must not get attached to these people. You know that, right?" Her idea of me becoming attached to humans was obscure. It was such a bad idea I had never even thought about it myself.
I scowled at Annie and turned myself back towards the front of the cabin to walk out. "I'm well aware of my position, Annie..." I tried keeping up my strong front, but my voice wavered as I stated as confidently as I could that I knew where I was and why I was here. It was because I wasn't a failure like some other children.
