The monitor beeped and Lukas sighed quietly.

The soft blanket that he was clutching tightly didn't provide him with much warmth.

His barren and seemingly hollow eyes were downcast for once and he sullenly gazed out the large window.

His eyes landed on a group of little kids, chasing each other down the street with large grins on their bright faces.

A small smile grew on Lukas' face as he watched the children blissfully running around, but his smile was soon to fade.

A group of kids ran through the forests, excitedly flailing their arms and laughing cheerfully.

"Tag your it," A redhead exclaimed, as she roughly tagged James.

Instantly everyone ran away from James as quickly as they could.

Their tiny feet carried them gracefully and James went for the nearest person.

In this case the nearest person so happened to be a little girl, her long hair flowing behind her as she sprinted as fast as she could.

She was breathing heavily and her beautiful vibrant eyes glimmered radiantly.

Lukas had stopped running and was watching the two run as he breathed quietly, his hands resting on his knees.

He panted slightly and Axel stopped beside him.

"Everyone to the secret base!" Jesse yelled as James came closer to them.

---

A person's heavy boots crunched fallen leaves.

As the person neared a shack, they slowly came to a stop.

The young woman's dull eyes observed the medium-sized hut.

She mumbled to herself quietly as she slowly opened the wooden door which creaked loudly.

Cold air rushed out of the room and she shuddered quickly.

"The interior sure changed a lot," She mumbled softly as she stuffed her hand's in her warm coat pockets.

Jesse walked in and looked up at a wooden beam and squinted as she looked at the names engraved on it.

Axel, James, Petra, Jesse, Reuben and Lukas.

Jesse frowned for a few moments and she furrowed her brow.

"Where's her name," She whispered faintly, as she stood on her tip-toes.

She ran the palm of her hand against the old wooden beam.

Once she removed her now dusty hand from the beam, she exhaled softly.

Oh yeah that's right.... We never got around to actually carving her name, she thought.

Jesse put her hand on her hip and she looked around the room.

She could feel her throat start to tighten as she looked at things she hadn't seen in years.

She sighed slowly and quickly rushed out of the room, shutting the door behind her as she felt several things stir within her.

Once she was outside the soft breeze hit her pale face and she walked through the damp forest.

Of course, her mother prohibited her from going in the woods, but Jesse could care less.

Leaves crunched beneath her feet and Jesse couldn't help but frown a little.

Her left cheek was stinging and it was a bit red, but she didn't really seem to acknowledge the pain.

As she walked deeper into the forest she made a quick mental note to be back home before evening came around.

She didn't know if her brother would question her whereabouts, but she doubted her brother even cared.

Sometimes he pretended she didn't exist anyway, so why would he want to know where she's been?

Jesse's thoughts wandered into the past, bringing back nostalgic moments of when life seemed to be perfect.

Jesse was sitting at the piano patiently, her legs dangling because her feet couldn't reach the floor.

Her mother was pondering, her fingers tapping against the beautiful grand piano.

"Jesse your making the note too short in that measure. Are you even counting sweety?" Jesse's mother asked, her tone as sweet as honey.

"I am mommy," Jesse said softly, as she looked up at her mother who wasn't in a wheelchair for once.

"Hmm... Well we'll continue later. Why don't you go outside and play?" Her mother said faintly, a small smile spread across her face.

Jesse snapped out of her thoughts and exhaled silently.

She glanced up at the azure sky and crossed her arms over her chest, the simple movement making her wince.

She just wished things could go back to how they used to be.
