18-A Horrid, but Fun Bake Sale

A plan was put in place before Lin even came back. Everyone would bake things like macarons, cookies, brownies, and cake slices for us to sell. Then, we'd donate all of the money to charity. In my opinion, it was a great community service project!

Originally, we planned for around...7-8 people to come. However, due to people being busy on that day and not being enough rides, only 4 of us showed up: Angela, Alex, Lin, and of course, myself. We originally set up in front of the park because we thought that was the best place. A few people who were jogging walked by, not even glancing at our table of baked goods.

Another issue was that none of us wanted to go and yell to people that we were selling things and ask them to buy. Maybe we would've had more success with door-to-door retail?

Lin came up with the idea that we walk to the nearest neighborhood Walmart and sell in front of there.

I didn't want to go to Walmart since why would people buy expensive baked goods from high schoolers when they could literally walk into Walmart and buy a whole box for the same cost? But, we weren't having much luck at the park...so we packed up our table and bags of baked goods and started making our way to the neighborhood Walmart one mile away.

The trudge to Walmart was long and filled with cries of complaint. We were all tired, and on top of that, it was a hot summer day. How could we not be tired?

The first we did when we got there was go in and buy some drinks. Lin and I went inside to buy bottles of Gatorade for everyone. Yet, when we went back outside, nothing was sold. With all of us admitting this was a horrible idea and me calling myself a horrible planner indeed, we decided to eat the baked goods and also buy a pizza from Pizza Hut? Papa John's? Whichever one we were closer to.

We walked home with the box of pizza in our hands.

Lin came back with me to my house because we had to practice piano and violin to perform at the hospital in one week.
