Me: You don't have to tell me who you specifically like, just if you LIKE someone
Lin: no comment
Me: will you tell me if I told you?
Lin: What?
Me: I'll tell you who I like :)
Lin: Isn't that Bob?
Me: No comments no comments no comments no comments. Two can play at this game
Lin: Your offer makes it sound like you don't like Bob XD
End of May 2018:
I don't know about everyone else, but May for me was hell. May was the month of finals when everyone complained and said they wanted to kill themselves before proceeding to a classroom of zombies. If anything, school was more like a jail than an actual school. Everyone waited in despair for the last day of school.
Talking with Lin had become my favorite pass-time. The two of us discussed different teachers, favorite foods, our friends, and became close-ish in the next week. I felt relaxed and calm around Lin, and it was easy for me to trust him.
At this point in time, I was dating someone else.
Let's call him Bob for the sake of humiliation.
Bob was, long story short, not the greatest boyfriend out there, but that's a whole different story. I had lots of doubts about the two of us, and at this point was starting to dislike him. At one point, I calculated the daily average of how much Lin and I spoke and realized it was more than how much Bob and I spoke daily!
One day, I suddenly became curious as to who Lin had a crush on. A lot of high schoolers had crushes right? Hormones and all? It'd be rare not to, and I wasn't about to take a measly "no" from him as a proper response.
And so, I started my interrogation.
And I failed.
I got nowhere TAT.
I continuously spammed him with questions of "who do you like", and "do you have a crush on someone?" and "are you gay?".
At first, he answered he did like someone but refused to tell me who. I was so sure he was gay for a while but then he emphasized that he was not gay...leading me to assume he wasn't gay. I coaxed him, using phrases like "I thought we were friends" and "you can trust me, I won't tell anyone".
The rock that was Lin refused to budge. He answered back to all my questions with, "no comments". I hated that phrase with a burning passion. He wasn't saying yes, nor was he saying no, he was just refusing to answer!
My patience thinned.
"If you tell me who you like, I'll tell you who I like," I impulsively sent.
I'm not sure what I was thinking in that instance besides the fact that people will sometimes give you what you want if you offer them an equal trade. After the words came out of my mouth though, I realized just how stupid I sounded.
He seemed amused as he asked me if the person I liked was Bob, so I mischievously replied, "I don't know, is it?"
And so, Lin told Bob what I had said and Bob asked me what I meant. I explained to him I was only saying that so Lin could tell me who he liked, and it was just a joke. To my surprise, he replied, "I don't think this is working out..." and continued to block me.
WHAT?
I sent messages after messages but there was no reply.
However, the side of me that knew better told me that it was just a prank from Bob and not anything to be worried about. So, I messaged my middle school friend, Allie (who knew Bob and Lin from group chats I had made) to pretend that I was crying.
No one can ignore a girl who's crying right!
Allie sent the message to Bob and waited for a response. Bob replied shortly after, saying he knew I had been kidding and only blocked me as a joke. Lin and Allie were both amused while I continued to stay pissed at Bob. He promised to buy me chocolate the next day at school (someone was selling them for a fundraiser).
Of course, I ended the day with one last question for Lin.
"Who do you have a crush on? Are you gay?"
Actually, that's two.
"Oh, so you're gay!"
"I'M NOT GAY!!"
