This was a new idea. Nooners  everyday? Pure genius! Charlotte was energetic, and I could easily schedule anything I had to do around that...to get that...to have her:

"Char?" I called softly, looking for her as I moved through the house alarmed. After seeing Drake carry Shanti like a fresh kill, I didn't know what to expect.  What the hell did Fae do? "Char?"  I saw my patients. "Has anyone seen--"

"I think she ran outside." Kat said softly.

I stood there for a second. I grabbed a hospital blanket, strawberries, and ran outside to the waterfall. She often went there saying it was peaceful. She didn't know, but there was a room where I could watch her picking plants and flowers, sitting under a tree with her head lifted and eyes closed catching a breeze or wind. She'd sing to herself sometimes. I'd often wanted to sketch her. I used to sketch in my younger days, and she made me want to do it again. She made me want more than I'd wanted ever.

"Char?"

Her head snapped up, eyes swollen, cheeks wet from crying. "What do you want?"

"You."

"What do you want?"

"I was looking for you."

"Well, I'm here--" she shrugged.

"I've missed you."

"Missed me?" she repeated.

"I thought us just being under the same roof would be enough, especially since your pregnancy is complicated, but I miss you."

"You miss me?" Her voice squeaked, her eyes starting to fill with tears again.

"What's going on?" I asked her. When she didn't answer, I offered my hand. "Come on."

"Where are we going?" she asked, but took it.

"Someplace I go when I want to be alone." I led her into the water.

"Where are you taking me?" She gasped at the water as we waded up to our knees.

"Property hideaway." I climbed next to the waterfall and inside.

"Is that," she tried to peer inside. "Is that a cave?"

"Yes, it is." I smiled. I threw the blanket over the ground, and  came back to extend my hand. "Come on."  As soon as she put hers in mine, I pulled her in with ease. She gave a little cry of surprise.

"Darius, what--"

I cut her off with a kiss. She tried to talk, but I kept stopping her. Shut up and give into me, I wanted to tell her. Shut up and let me do this. We need this. Her attempts subsided and her vocalizations became sweet little moans. Her hands raked my scalp, and finally, we sank onto the blanket. I began undressing her as I found that little spot just below her ear where I could feel her pulse under my tongue. "Mmm."
