Taking a seat across from Mathias, I already know that whatever he's gonna say will piss me the fuck off. I bit the inside of my cheek as I wait for him to start.

"He isn't going to go away. I've made it known that I would do whatever it takes to ensure he leaves Sutton alone. It's not doing anything to persuade him otherwise." He pauses for a second before continuing. "Things might get messy now that he's broken into your apartment. I'm going to have more security measures taken for your place."

I look to Ollie and he still looks pissed. I don't know which he's more pissed about... me and Sutton sleeping together or that douchebag ex of hers still coming after her. I know he has feelings for her, I can see it written all over his face when he looks at her.

"What do you suggest we do?" I ask, looking back at my brother.

He, in turn, looks to his head of security Rob and nods to him. "We already have all the paperwork for a restraining order ready for Sutton to sign. Once that's settled, my men can use the cops to our benefit. Until then, I'll have a man on her twenty-four seven."

I put my hand to my neck and squeeze. Taking a deep breath, I fight with what the right thing to do is.

Sutton is going to hate being followed everywhere.

Fuck, I hate it.

Nothing kills trying to get laid in public like a bodyguard following you into the damn bushes. Not that I'm trying to fuck Sutton in an actual bush... but you know, sometimes the urge strikes when you least expect it.

"But what if he's crazy enough that come after her still? You know, like that dickhead that came after Cadence even with the security?"

Mathias rubs his face with the palms of both of his hands.

"Then we take him out."

I feel the tension spread through the room with those five words. When I look at Ollie again, he's pale.

One thing I've learned growing up as a Black - people are dispensable. When I was young I didn't understand what my father did or why so many people were terrified of him. It wasn't only him. They were scared of everyone else in his company.

That is until I found out the truth. A truth that Mathias stays as far as he can from. He went straight while our old man continues to cross that line far more than any man should.

It's why he's mad that Mathias isn't marrying to better the family. Why he has never wanted anything to do with my football career ambitions.

We don't fit into his mold of how things are supposed to work. But when it comes to protecting what's ours, Mathias and I will risk it all.

Even if it means I lose her after it's all said and done.

Her safety will always come first. Ollie stands and when my brother looks at him, I can feel myself tense more. Mathias knows that I never tell anyone about our father other than he's a huge dick. No one knows that he's involved in and I don't want that to start now.

"Take him out?" Ollie says the words slowly, almost like he's testing them out.

"Yes," Mathias says causally.

Mathias and Ollie both look to me and stay silent. As soon as it's over, I know that Ollie is going to question me on what the means. He'll want to know why I'm not flipping the fuck out about it. Why I'd let them kill someone...

"We have to do whatever it takes to ensure Sutton is safe. Unless you want something bad to happen to her." My brother's voice is terse, and there is a scowl on his face.
