Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling does.
The next few weeks went by and soon enough the Quidditch game between Slytherin and Gryffindor was to take place. Harry was very nervous for his first game, but everyone told him he would do great. When the game finally started Harry was circling the top of the pitch when he saw the snitch, Harry's broom suddenly jerked to the side, he quickly glanced around the crowed. Everyone was cheering on their team, and didn't notice Harry's broom jerk, his eyes set Professor Quirrell who was murmuring something under his breath and keeping his eyes locked on him jinxing his broom, he then cast a stinging hex at him to distract him. He quickly looked around the pitch before he dove after the snitch and after a steep dive, caught it. Everyone cheered, he had finally done something to prove himself to the school that he was more than just the boy who lived.
Harry went and told Ron and Hermione about Professor Quirrell jinxing his broom, Harry later that night told Severus who was very concerned, but also proud of how he reacted quickly.
A few days later Hermione, Ron and Harry were walking to the library when Peeves started to chase them. They quickly ran through the corridors, and after a quick unlocking spell found themselves face to face with a three headed dog, Harry quickly pulled them away and shut the door.
The next day the trio went to Hagrid's hut, as Harry presumed the three headed dog was guarding something, as it was standing on a trap door, he also concluded that it could be whatever Hagrid took from Gringotts. Once they got settled into Hagrid's hut Harry started asking questions.
"Hagrid, would you by any chance know anything about what the three headed dog is guarding?" Asked Harry.
"How do you know about Fluffy?" Asked Hagrid, gruffly.
"I was just curious to what Fluffy is guarding." Replied Harry, dodging the question.
"You kids don't need to worry about it, what Fluffy is guarding is between Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel."
"Oh, so there is someone named Nicolas Flamel?"
"I have said too much, have a good day you three, don't worry about it." Hagrid said as he was furious with himself.
The trio then spent their free time reading, trying to find out what Fluffy was guarding. They hadn't had any luck yet, as he wasn't in any of the books they checked.
Christmas was almost here and both Hermione and Ron were going home for the holidays, and Harry was staying in the castle.
"Try and do some research on Flamel while we're gone, Harry. Sorry you have to stay by yourself." Hermione said before she had to go.
"Thanks, I will do my best, I hope you both have good Christmas'." Replied Harry.
"Thanks, you too. There is one spot that we haven't checked yet Harry, the restricted section in the library." Said Hermione as she walked out of the Great Hall.
"Well, have a good Christmas, mate. Bye." Said Ron before following Hermione.
Harry then made his way down to the dungeons after everyone left as Severus said he could stay in his bedroom in their quarters as all of Harry's dorm mates had gone home.
Over the break Harry read a lot, but wouldn't tell Sev why he was reading it other than he liked to read. On Christmas day Harry got lots of presents, he got a knitted sweater and fudge from Mrs. Weasley, some art supplies, broom polish set, and an adventure book series from Sev, a book from Hermione, a box of chocolate frogs from Ron, a chiseled flute from Hagrid and an invisibility cloak, with a note that said it had belonged to his dad.
