The first day back when classes started Hadrian made his way over to the Slytherin table and tapped Pansy on the shoulder.
"So, what do you think?" Asked Hadrian with a grin, he was wearing the shirt Pansy had gotten him for Christmas and had his hair streaked with Gryffindor colours to match.
Pansy turned around and laughed. "The shirt looks nice, the hair is a little much though." Everyone started to laugh around them as well. Hadrian then changed his hair back to his normal black and purple and sat down. Everyone talked about their holidays, and then went to their first classes.
The next two months flew by and there were no more attacks, and everything was calming down a bit. Hadrian had been going to see his dad a lot in the evenings for tea and to tell him about how his day was. For Hadrian it was really nice to be able to talk to him, and discuss things that he wouldn't talk about with his friends. Neither Hadrian or his dad had forgotten about the blocks the Headmaster had put on Hadrian, and were both trying to figure out what to do. Both the light and dark side didn't benefit the pair, as they saw both sides as evil. Hadrian wanted to create a new side, and his dad said he would be a good leader. So now Hadrian was going to put work into creating a new side. One were he had to create all the things the side stood for, like equal rights for werewolves, and vampires. Or creating a magical school muggleborn children attended before Hogwarts so they could learn about their culture. Hadrian has a lot of plans, he just needed to wait and figure out how it would all work.
One afternoon Hadrian was walking to the library to go study with Ron and Hermione when he heard crying from a girls bathroom. He decided to make sure that the person was okay, he went up to the door and knocked, he got no answer so called out "Hello?" He didn't get a response but he could still hear crying so he opened the door. When he entered the bathroom a ghost came out of one of the stalls and floated in front of him.
"Why is a boy in the girls bathroom?" Asked the ghost, in a shrill voice. The ghost in front of him had dark hair and pale skin with glasses. She looked to be about 13 and wore her hair in pigtails.
"I'm sorry, I just heard you crying and wanted to make sure you were okay. What's your name?" Asked Hadrian. He was a little confused about what a ghost would cry about in a bathroom but didn't comment on it.
"My name is Myrtle. Most people call me moaning Myrtle though."
"That's not nice, but why?"
"I often spend my time crying in this bathroom, normally no one comes here. Today though a girl came in here and tried to flush a book down the toilet. She hit me with the book. Lots of people play games like that, trying to throw objects threw me to see if it will go through." Myrtle said in a soft, high pitched voice, she burst into tears again and Hadrian sighed.
"Myrtle, do you know where the book is now?"
"It's over there." She said pointing over towards the sinks. "After trying to flush it down the toilet she threw it over there and left."
"Thanks Myrtle, let me know if anyone else is mean to you and I will make sure they get in trouble for it." Said Hadrian before he left the bathroom with a soaking wet book and a very confused brain.
When he went to the library after drying the book and putting it in his bag. He told Ron and Hermione about his visit with Myrtle, they both found it bizarre, when he showed them the book and showed them there were no words on any of the pages, the only writing was the words 'Tom Riddle' on the back. He decided to worry about it later, and focus on his homework.
It was a few weeks later when he had the idea to write in the diary, he started out by writing 'hi' and the diary actually wrote back, 'hello'. Even though his father told Hadrian to bring any items that could be cursed to him, Hadrian told the diary his name and the diary responded by saying its name was Tom Riddle. They went conversing back and forth for a while until Hadrian asked if he knew anything about the chamber of secrets, and the diary wrote it could show him a memory. So Hadrian agreed and was shot into a memory from fifty years ago.
In the memory there was a boy who looked about 16 and he was talking to a younger boy, about 13. The older boy was Tom from the diary and the younger boy was Hagrid.Tom told Hagrid that he had to tell on him for bringing a deadly animal into the castle. Hagrid kept saying that the animal didn't do anything wrong and wouldn't hurt anyone. Tom told him he had to tell a professor as the animal had already killed a student and petrified others. Tom went and told the headmaster, and Hagrid was expelled, and the attacks stopped. Hadrian then flew out of the memory.
'So it was Hagrid? But he wouldn't want to hurt anyone.' Hadrian thought, he was now even more confused than when the day started.
A few weeks later Hadrian, Draco, and Blaise were discussing what they thought the thing could be that was petrifying students. They had figured that it could be a basilisk, they just couldn't figure out how it could get around. A basilisk is a snake that when looked directly in the eyes is their gaze is lethal. They were pretty sure someone must be controlling it, as someone was killing roosters, which to a basilisk their crow is lethal. Also everyone that has been petrified did not look directly at it as Ms. Norris saw it in the reflection of a puddle, Colin saw it through his camera, and Justin through Nearly Headless Nick.
A few days later was the next Quidditch match was on and Hadrian, Ron and Hermione were on their way to the pitch when Hermione had an idea and said she needed to go to the library. She left the boys and went off to the library. When the boys made it to the Quidditch pitch, Professor McGonagall told them the game was canceled as there was another petrification. She pulled the boys aside and explained that Hermione had been petrified.
Both boys decided it was time to take action, the next night they made their way down to Hagrid's hut to find out more information.
Hadrian still didn't have any proof it was Hagrid this time around, but from what he saw in Toms diary, he was their prime suspect.
They made their way out of the Gryffindor common room half an hour before curfew under the invisibility cloak. When they made it to his hut he greeted them and the boys began asking him about his side of the story. He began to explain when there was a knock at the door, Hagrid told the boys to hide in the corner under the invisibility cloak. When Hagrid opened the door, the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, and Lucius Malfoy were there to take him and Dumbledore away, as they were believed to be helping or doing nothing about the attacks. As he was escorted away he said 'If I were looking for something I would follow the spiders' and then he left. He was taken to Azkaban and Dumbledore left the school because he refused to go to Azkaban. This left Ron and Hadrian to try to solve the mystery, so they now knew, they needed to follow the spiders.
