The next morning Hadrian awoke to the smell of pancakes and french toast wafting into the room. He smiled and whispered a happy birthday to himself, and got out of bed. He stayed in his pajamas and went downstairs to find his father.
His father was seated at the table in their dining room, reading the daily prophet. When he heard Hadrian walk into the room he stood up and walked over to Hadrian and wrapped him in a hug.
"Happy birthday, Hadrian." He said, before releasing Hadrian and guiding him to a chair, that had pancakes, fruit, and french toast in front of it. "I made your favourites this morning, and I will give you your gifts after breakfast."
"Thanks! Are Draco, Nick, and Blake still coming over this afternoon?" Hadrian asked, as he took a seat and started to devour his breakfast.
"Of course, I bought a cake at the muggle bakeshop down the road, and I figured you could all fly, or entertain yourselves some other way." Severus replied.
"That sounds awesome, you're the best!"
"I try." Severus said dryly, with a smile.
Hadrian rolled his eyes with a smile on his face, and continued eating his breakfast.
When the pair were done they walked to the living room and Severus gave Hadrian his birthday gifts. Hadrian unwrapped them carefully, and was ecstatic about what was in them. He received a brand new set of dueling robes in blue, with his name across the back, a few books, and some art supplies. He thanked and hugged his dad, before running to his room to put his books and art supplies away before trying on his dueling robes.
The robes fit him like a second skin, and were absolutely brilliant. Hadrian ran down the stairs to show his dad how he looked in them. He ran into the living room to show his dad, and even did a little twirl in them to show how well they fit.
Severus laughed at Hadrian's excitement, "I'm glad you like the robes, I figured you would need them for the dueling club tournament at the end of the month."
"You're right, thanks! I'll have to show Nick and Blake later, these are awesome!" Hadrian said.
"Yes you will. Now, go change out of them, your friends will be here soon, and I'm sure you would prefer to spend time with them rather than getting changed." Severus said with a smile.
"Right!" Hadrian said before running out of the room to change into something more appropriate.
*********
Hadrian was almost jumping up and down in excitement when Blake and Nick came through the floo. The pair both came out with smiles on their faces and each wished Hadrian a happy birthday, and gave him a gift and card. Hadrian thanked the pair and Blake and Nick pulled him in for a hug.
When the three separated, Draco came through the floo and pulled Hadrian into his arms, kissed his forehead, and whispered a 'happy birthday, Ri' under his breath. When Hadrian pulled away he was blushing and Blake and Nick looked at him with matching smirks.
"This must be Draco, you seem to be awfully friendly with him, Hades. Anything you care to tell us?" Nick asked, his smirk widening with every word.
Hadrian just stood there blushing, so Draco took the initiative to speak for him. "I am Draco, and you two must be Blake and Nick. It's a pleasure to meet you both, Ri speaks highly of you."
"Yes we are, I am Nick, and that loser over there is Blake." Nick, the one with a tan complexion and short dark brown hair, said as he pointed at the other male who had a darker complexion, and slightly longer, darker hair.
