Angels POV
It was the Choosing Ceremony day, in which I was about to flip my world around... and also leave my parents to their own devices for the rest of our petty lives. My aptitude test showed something I believed to be true, I was meant for a different faction, not one who only lies in truth alone, but one that lies and fights for survival. I was meant for dauntless.
I decided the previous night that I was going to go out of Candor in the most classic style I knew, a pair of black overalls and a black and white top in which I mostly only wore at home- otherwise they may have just mistaken me for Amity, which is an utterly ridiculous faction to be in.
I sat with my parents, a somber feeling between the three of us. My three elder siblings had already left us, my sister for Abnegation and my twin brothers for Erudite. I felt mildly sad for my parents, all four of us leaving for different factions, but that was just what our brain was telling us.
"You know we will love you no matter what, don't forget that Angel face (A/N this is actually my nickname why dad uses for me)" my dad said, using my nickname for probably the last time until they have visiting day.
"I know dad, I just hope I make the right choice" I said to him.
"You will, you always do" mum said, putting her hand on my knee as the ceremony started.

"Angel Emery" I stood up, hugging my parents and walked down the set of stairs next to our faction. I felt all eyes on me as I reached the five bowls that represented each faction. I grabbed the knife that had been used by the sixteen year old before me, although it had been cleaned each time. When the slice had been complete I dragged my hand towards the burning coals that represented dauntless, the faction that would soon become my home. The drip and sizzle of my blood happened quickly, the roar of the black sea became loud as Marcus Eaton pronounced my new faction. I turned slowly towards the sea of black and was immediately embraced by a girl filled with tattoos and piercings, looking at my parents I noticed the tears on my mother and fathers faces, realising I would forever be gone. But I couldn't help that, it was just the way I was born.
The ceremony finished in a flash, more people arrived next to me, some from my faction, some from Erudite and so on, but most surprisingly there was a singular girl from Abnegation. The factions started to file out towards elevators, except for ours, we filed out towards a train that was approaching quite fast and all of dauntless and the dauntless-born were running straight for it with smiles on their faces, I started running and I was lucky enough to be fit enough that I could keep in pace with them- all others really lacking in their speed behind me. As the strain approached with the first carriage the people of dauntless were jumping straight on, I realised that it wasn't going to stop and ran a little faster so I could at least be at the middle of the train. Jumping wasn't an issue, it was balancing enough to climb on that was.
"Great job on jumping Candor, can't wait to see you when we have to jump off" A random dauntless member said, she was older than me by a few years. She was obviously a dauntless-born too.
"Yeah it'll be easier than getting on here for sure" I said to her, crossing my arms in the process.
"Sure is, but most newbies, I mean transfers, don't realise that the train don't stop for that either." She said to me, I nodded and then looked outside towards where you could see other buildings- other factions pass by.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright girly lets see you jump!" the same girl said to me, I looked out and saw the gravel of the dauntless compound. Counting in my head very fast I jumped........Jump and roll. I laughed as I reached the ground.
"That was amazing!" I got a hand up from the same chick , she smiled at me then disappeared from my sight.
"I'm Eric one of your leaders, you want to add to dauntless this is the way in and if you don't have the guts to jump then you don't belong in dauntless" This man with tattoos and full of piercings yells at the group crowding the place where we needed to jump.
"Is there water at the bottom or something?" this boy at the back said, some of the group giggled and laughed.
"I guess you'll have to find out or not" The man said to him. "So who's gonna go first? It has to be someone"
"Me" my mouth said before my brain could process what I was even saying. I walked towards the front and to where the drop was, the leader bounced of the top of the ledge as I got there and stared at me, along with the rest of the initiates. I slowly climbed the ledge, then stared down and gulped. What on earth was I thinking?
"Today initiate" The leader said. Bitch....
I closed my eyes, took a hell of deep breath and jumped. It was stores upon stories of height that I fell through before my back hit a net, which me being a light-weight I bounced off of several times until it stopped and I climbed to the edge. A guy grabbed me by my arm and I stumbled to balance on my feet.
"Your name? You can pick a new one if you want but make it good cause you don't get to pick again" I stared at the man in front of me.
"Angel" I breathed out slowly.
"First jumper, Angel! Welcome to dauntless" I was moved away and slowly but surely all the other transfers and dauntless-born jumped down to the net too.

"Alright initiates, my name is Four, I usually work in Intelligence but I've been asked to help train some of you this year. All of those who are dauntless-born go to Lauren and transfers stay here." He was demanding, but not as bad as the other guy who made us jump in the first place.I see about a third of the group move towards this Lauren chick who smiles at them and hugs a few like she knows them personally.
"Alright lets go dauntless-born!" She runs off and those who are initiates follow her.
"Right now, today we won't start your initiation but we will show you where you will all be sleeping and where amenities are, then we will go to the dining hall for dinner. Tonight and for the rest of your initiation until you make it into dauntless, or don't, you will have a curfew" I hear a few groans of annoyance. "You will need this curfew for the sake that anything you do during initiation will be rough, mentally and physically." I nodded along, okay with the fact we have a curfew and that I basically already knew that the initiation for any faction was hard on a person, no matter the faction.
