Fears come to play

Angel's POV

"Alright initiates today is the fear simulations, the only people to see the simulation will be myself, Eric, Lauren and Max" Four said to all of the initiates, including the Dauntless-born.

"Angel Emery" I stood up, Christina and Tris squeezed my hand.

"Alright let's get this over with" I breathed out when I walked into the room, Four was there ready to inject me with the serum.

"You okay?" I nodded at him.

"Yeah just not sure if you guys should see my fears, they're stupid" He nodded and smiled.

"So we're mine but here I am" I lied down and got ready for the needle. "See you in a minute Angel"

I woke up on top of the Ferris wheel, but not in the seats, I was on the bars. I looked down slowly and saw the ground at least 75 metres below me. This almost made me faint, but then I remembered it wasn't real, these were simulations. I slowly slid towards the first seat, and the next one and so on until it was safe to jump and I wasn't going to break my ankle aka 15 metres.

Then the floor broke loose and I landed in my bedroom. I saw my father and mother. I saw the belts and bats. I saw the cuffs my parents used on me and my siblings. Oh god. I saw my sisters dead body, she never made it to sixteen and she was born before me. I heard the slow slap of the belts on my brother, younger by a few years. I ran over and threw him out of the way. The belts hit me and started faster. I was able to grab his hands but my mother hit me at the back of the head with her bat and I was gone.

Eric burst into the room straight after I woke up.

"Four she just beat you..." He said to the 18 year old who was also staring at me.

"What?" I said.

"You only have two fears" Four said. "I have Four, hence my name. I was the only person with so little fears but looks like that's not true anymore" The elder teenager smiled at me and patted my back.

"Go to your friends, I'll need to see you later with Max." Eric's tough demeanour had returned.

"Okay that's fine" I said and got up to walk to the door.

"What did they say to you? You look pale" Chris said.

"Uh I beat Four..." The girls both looked like they'd seen a ghost.

"How many fears?" Tris asked me as we walked to lunch.

"Two fears" I said, looking at the two was a bad idea cause they immediately stopped before getting Dauntless cake.

"What it's true" I told them and reached for the cake over them.

"I bet you shocked them" Chris said to me.

"Why do you think they want to talk later" I said smirking slightly.

"Well let's hope it's good news" Tris said and turned to find a table.

"Your fear landscape showed only two fears, that's impossible" Max said.

"Obviously not considering I just do" I said to the three men in the room.

"You're very high up the ladder Angel, especially how you felt with the landscape. We think that if you're staying in first place, you have to show everyone your landscape. Yes you may get a nickname like Four, but it's worth cause you'd be having the best job in Dauntless" Max said, the two boys nodding along.

"Personally I think it'd be interesting to see everyone's reactions" Eric said. I rolled on the balls of my feet, thinking it over for a minute.

"Okay I'll do it but you have to promise my place stays the same" I said to them.

"Of course" Four said.
