I licked my slightly chapped lips, the apex arena was getting closed down for tonight, and of course, Bloodhound was on the champion squad. The sheer amount of kills they stacked up was amazing. While they were quite ruthless, I'm sure they had their reasons.
They were the perfect role model to me.
While they battled fiercely, I was a mere reporter. I would take as many pictures of all the legends as I could, maybe sneak in some questions. Of course I received countless interviews with Octane, or Mirage. I've even talked to Wraith and Bangalore.
But Bloodhound never bothered, it's not that they didn't care. Or at least, I hoped they cared. They would always wave at me, but I could never get in a single word. I always caught myself going to the same cafe that they went to after all the hard work we did. It wasn't stalking per say, just minor observations.
As usual, I sat in a booth alone. They always sat at the wooden stools, every single day. The sun was setting, it was a cold day outside. They would always stare into the sky around this time, and mumbled about how beautiful it was. I wanted them to look at me the way they looked at the sky. Eyes full of warmth and amazement.
What was under their mask? Who were they underneath all the killing? I wanted to know so desperately that it started to take over most of my everyday thoughts. What exactly made me so attracted to them? To someone that's never spoken a word to me.
I was so deeply in thought, I failed to notice that very person slide into the chair in front of me, then place down their food and drinks.
"It seems that you've been watching me for quite some time now." They said.
I jumped up and spilled my scorching hot cocoa on the front of my chest, it leaked into my shirt, making the pain two times as harsh. I then proceeded to drop my cup. It fell in my lamp, burning the hell out of my thighs. I refused to let my terrible screams leave my mouth in front of the person I was very much into. While I couldn't help my eyes from watering, I also refused to let my tears spill.
The moment the cocoa was spilled they jumped up and apologized, then asked for a towel from the man working at the counter. I blushed slightly as they came in such close contact to wipe the drink off of me.
"I apologize, it was my fault for appearing so suddenly." They said.
"N-no you're fine, I should've been paying more attention." I said, waving my hands dismissing their guilt.
They put their hand on their chin, and started to think.
"I should...make it up to you somehow..."
Before they could finish talking, the wind outside started to whirl like crazy. The weather has been pretty crappy recently, snow everywhere. But today, it was almost severe. Outside, it looked like hail was coming down, hard (lmao A/N: I literally live in a desert, it snowed like once here so im not too sure how it is in colder places).
"Ah shit-" You said, before choking on your own vulgar words.
They looked backed to you and laughed softly. You blushed at the almost harmonic sound.
"Ahem.. so, stuck in a snowstorm, huh?" You said, while the wind howled.
"Mhm, that we are.."
It was silent. A comfortable silence, but an awkward one at that, why won't they say anything?Maybe I should. I opened my mouth to speak, just to get interrupted.
"Your clothes, they're still soaked! My apologies, I should've gotten something for you.." They said while standing up.
At the moment they were dressed in clothes more suitable for the cold winter weather. A turtle neck with two jackets, one long, one short on top. Then some pants and boots. They wore a scarf as well. Which was strange, because their mask was still completely on their face. They started to take off their jacket and I quickly looked to the side, questioning why they suddenly decided to strip.
They put it over my shoulders, I cyrsed myself for immediately thinking perverse thoughts.
"I know it's not much, but I hope that'll do." They said.
My cheeks dusted pink as I stared at them in amazement.
"Thank you.."
It was another moment of silence, I fumbled with my fingers. They ordered us some hot chocolate.
"Y-you know-"
They jumped a bit at my sudden out burst. I panicked and apologized, they chuckled.
"I'm a really big fan..of you I mean. I've always watched you in the apex games and well, I'm a reporter, so do you mind if I learn a little about you..?"
The two of you spent hours chatting, and time flew by.
"Ah, your name?" They asked.
"It's F/N L/N."
They chuckled, and you could feel the happiness radiating from them. They stood up and got ready to leave.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, F/N." They tugged their mask in the slightest, giving me the smallest glimse of a crimson eye, giving me a wink.
