"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."
~John Lennon.□ □ □ □
With confidence no one knew she ever had, she moved forward, raised her fist and punched the corrupt government official in his face.
"You are being paid by the government not for you to drain us dry of money but to work for us. Do you not understand that you are public servants. You do know the meaning of servant right? You are supposed to work for us, not the other way round." Saying this she knocked him out.
But hey, this does sound too good to be true. The reality being this -
Accepting that her doing as she wanted to, will only get disapproval from her parents, she moved forward ignoring the old couple who were pleading with the official to get their work done. Guilt gnawed her insides as she moved forward to submit an application for the renewal of her government scholarship.
The woman in context, a 22-year old, final year architecture at Hyderabad Institute of Architecture. Standing at 5'6", long straight hair, chocolate brown eyes, straight sharp nose, lips almost always stretched into a parabola and upheld chin, she was that bubbly girl who was the go-to lady for any sort of trouble. Smart, beautiful, silent and obedient is how one would describe her after their first meet. Only the closest of her friends know that crazy and bold girl hiding under the facade of her apparently reserved personality.
Her name, Samanvitha very aptly describes her beautiful personality.
Gentle yet ferocious,
Adventurous yet timid,
Strong yet dependent,
All qualities equally, eminent.Being the only child born with a complicated delivery, she's the apple of her parents' eyes. Born into a not very financially stable family, she had seen all the trouble her parents faced to be where they are today. She knows what all difficulties they faced to make her what she is today. Disappointing them is one of her biggest fear besides of course Mr. Rao, her Professor.
Mr. Rao is particularly one person on the planet, that Samanvitha is so afraid to a degree of rather staying in a room full of cockroaches for an hour, than talk to. And it's no secret that Samanvitha is disgusted by cockroaches, Eww, gross.
Back to Samanvitha's parents....
Her mother, Mrs. Kausalya Krishna Murthy....
She is the epitome of simplicity. A good wife and mother, who wants her family's happiness and peace. A little bit conservative, but aren't most Indian mothers?
Her Father, Mr. Krishna Murthy....
He started working as a contract worker in a small company, now grew up as a manager at the same firm.
He loves his family a lot and worked very hard for their well-being.Seeing their effort to keep her life safe and secure, she always felt very grateful for having them as her parents. She never wanted to give her any more burden than already. Her every word and action came out only after careful consideration so as not to cause any trouble for her parents. All of this slowly caused her true self to get buried deep inside her facade. Her responsibilities as a daughter overpowered her desire for freedom of her own self.
Oh! Who could free one from the prison they themselves have built?

Samanvitha, fondly called as Sam by her close knit group of friends, is basically a final year Architecture Student at Hyderabad Institute of Architecture as afore mentioned, and currently pursuing her internship. Her group of friends include Shweta, Viren, Triveni, Sarayu and Hafeez.
She met Shweta, Viren, Triveni and Hafeez on the first day of her college and they instantly clicked. Sarayu, closest among the group to Samanvitha, is a computer science student. She and Samanvitha go way back. They have been friends since their childhood. Their friendship started in a Toy store fighting over the same pink teddy bear which is still cherished by both of them. This beautiful bond of friendship is what kept her in the group though she is currently studying in a different college.
As time passed, their acquaintance nurtured into strong bonds of friendship. Love blossomed and cherished between Viren and Shweta.
Happiness was shared.....
Difficulties were dealt.....
Affection was showered.....
Concern was showed.....
Insecurities were fought with.....
Memories were created.....
Life was cherished....All in all they created for themselves a very beautiful college life. Coming to the last year of their college life, it was a bittersweet moment for them. Happy that at last they are about to graduate, learn to earn, become independent, provide for their family... but sad that they can no longer be the kids who could bunk classes to go watch a movie or be the naive kids not having to worry about the issues of the world or spend so much time together and cherish the bond between themselves.
Already busy with their final year subjects, internship and projects, they already get less time compared to earlier. But hey, when was growing up easy? If only it were possible to go back into the past and enjoy their lives once again. Alas it isn't!!!
*****
Loving and caring parents, Genuine and Supportive friends, good education and innate desire for independence were all she thought she ever needed for a happy ending. A few unplanned events were all it took for her to be proven wrong.
