The cold silent breeze brushed against the tangerine fur of a raccoon who hung her head low. She gazed upon her trembling hands while the image of SNT's scar lingered within her mind, the scar that she created with these very hands. That pain she had inflicted on a friend, without even having the decency to apologize. Marine closed her eyes and sighed.
Perhaps everyone s'right about me... she thought. Just then, the young raccoon heard a stoic voice in the distance. She opened her eyes and noticed Percival standing in front of the village gate.
"Thou hast no privilege setting foot here," the village chief spoke. Marine furrowed her brow.
Who's the chief speaking to? she wondered. She walked behind one of the nearest cabins and looked over the conversation. Behind the gate stood two individuals that Marine had never seen before. The first one was a hulking gray albatross with white feathers on his chest, his eyes were covered with a binocular-looking visor with black lenses. His hair resembled Wave's albeit shorter with the tips being a darker gray than the rest of his body, he wore orange gloves and gray shoes with a golden strap across the center of the shoe.
"No privilege?" the albatross questioned. Percival glared at the hulking giant, her stance being that of refined posture.
"The protection fee has already been paid last month!" the Chief claimed. The albatross seemed confused by Percival's words and glanced at the person next to him. This person... or better yet, this thing was completely composed of metal parts; its upper body was a pale white with a red heart at its center, its lower body was a lime green however the legs were completely pink, which was the same color as its head which had four quills protruding around its scalp. Its eyes were black but with crimson red pupils. Lastly, it had sharp claws and purple feet.
Unlike the albatross, this mechanical automaton seemed lifeless. Not a single movement or reaction to the albatross' predicament. All this robot did was glare at the royal knight.
"Oh, come now, kitty..." a third voice spoke out. The sound of rattled chains rang in the air. Everyone in the vicinity turned towards the third person, the one who was no doubt the leader of the group. This guy held a strong resemblance to Sonic, only his fur was a dark purple and his eyes were lined with thick black eyeliner. A tattooed star was emblazoned on his forehead as his muzzle was a light purple, including his nose. He wore gray fingerless biker gloves along with gray jeans, black socks, and gray shoes with red soles. This guy picked up his thumb and pointed toward his smug face.
"We both know that isn't the reason I'm here. Nothin personnel... of course," he claimed.
Who are these lot? Marine wondered. Her deep blue eyes mainly focused on the purple Sonic look-alike, even at a distance, the raccoon felt something sinister emit from his presence. The Albatross grinned at the sight of this hedgehog and bellowed a loud laugh.
"Yeah, talk, or else we'll trash ya," he confidently threatened.
"I'll ask ya again, kitty. Where's the echidna?" the purple hedgehog asked. The robotic one stayed silent and continued to glare at the chief with those cold red eyes.
Echidna... are they talkin about Shade? Marine pondered. Just then, a shadow loomed over the young raccoon which made her feel like someone was watching over her. Marine turned around to face her watcher, only to be met with a towering black body. The solar rays of the sun beamed upon the stalker's body, shadowing their appearance with blinding light.
"What are you doing here?" they questioned. Marine began to panic and opened her mouth to shout, however, the stalker acted quickly and covered the raccoon's mouth before she could make a peep. Marine tried to fight back, but her voice was too muffled for the village chief to hear.
