"What the heck is that?" Shade's ears twitched at the sound of peril present within SNT's voice as the cracking of tree branches and other wooden bodies accompanied her voice. The echidna slowly opened her eyes, barely conscious from the explosive power of the malicious Pumpkin. Her sight was blurry, but the orange hue of the flames made it easier for her to understand the current situation.

"Ergh..." She groaned, perspiring as her eyes adjusted to the bright lights of a forest fire. Pumpkin—the very same person that Shade and the gang searched this neck of the woods for— moved her hands about as azure flames ignited from her fingertips, this attracted the other flames and caused them to spiral around her body. The ground beneath her rose up, slowly turning into magma to fuel the beast that she had created. A hellish roar filled the sky and brought Shade's attention upwards, her eyes shrank in pure shock as the flaming pillar took the form of a demonic behemoth.

W...what is she? She wondered. Shade had seen a ton of crazy and powerful lifeforms in the past, many she had considered an ally. This creature, however, was unlike anything she had ever seen. A beast made up entirely of lava and brimstone, a complete embodiment of fire. Shade gritted her teeth, not willing to back down from this fight.

"Mortal... or demon... whatever you be..." she panted, slowly getting to her feet. Pumpkin's soulless eyes hardened at the sight of the echidna surviving that explosion. Shade stumbled a bit but managed to stand, her violet eyes glared daggers at the pyrokinetic. "I'll end you!" She growled. Adrenaline finally kicked into the echidna's body and allowed her to lunge at her opponent with an energy dagger in hand.

"I'm afraid that I can not allow that..." An unfamiliar voice started to speak. Shade gasped as she felt something cold held her suspended in the air. A crimson aura suddenly engulfed the echidna's body, it's glow shined behind her to show the visage of a hooded woman. "Shade the echidna!" The woman spoke as she placed her head right next to the echidna's. Shade's heart raced as the aura completely constricted her body, she could even feel her captor's calm and composed breathing.

"Color me surprised, I had expected the one that defeated Coldsteel, but instead I find the lowly runaway echidna." The woman claimed as a sinister smile formed on her face. Shade's eyes widened at the amount of knowledge this woman seemed to have on her.

"H... how...?" She gasped. An amused chuckle left the woman's lips.

"Do I know this? Simple really... a shame that you'll never find out." The woman claimed, as everything was suddenly engulfed in a blood-red hue.

Chapter 7:

The Flames of Disaster

A blazing inferno scorched the once beautiful forest as a giant behemoth howled into the heavens. Fragments of its magma flesh rained down to further plunge the once peaceful place of nature into the destructive grasp of fire. Above this terrible predicament was SNT, frozen in the air with only her survival instincts and force of habit stopping her from plummeting into the deadly carnage below. Her eyes dead set at the sight of this monster who seemingly smiled at the death and destruction it's presence wrought.

Finally, a sound brought the angel back to reality. An obnoxious static noise that held her attention tightly and brought it towards her communication band. It's thin pink coloration nearly blended in with the rest of the warm colors that spread across the sea of trees. Her mind still gutted and left to stumble in shock held her back, but even still, SNT pushed forward and brought the band towards her lower lip.

"H... hello...?" SNT managed to speak, her voice timid and frightened.

"SNT... thank goodness I can hear your voice!" Spoke Maria, the angel's voice being the only logical thing that has occurred to her in the past five minutes.
