Sunrise gave way to a bright and peaceful sky as the giant celestial body's heavenly glow descended upon this planet, giving sight and prosperous vision while the darkness of night dissipated into nothingness. The tiny early birds hummed a sweet tune to welcome the sun as honey bees buzzed about to pollinate any flowers they could come across. So was the nature of this strange world's ecosystem.
Bushes and vines engrossed everywhere the eye could see. A patch of flowers grew near a tree trunk along with a darker shade of grass that encompassed the forest. Just then, a white boot stomped down near the flowers, it had blue trails up it's sides along with its face being a large black dot. This boot belonged to none other than Maria Robotnik the hedgehog. She carried her bag to a large empty space of the woods. Her eyes gazed upon the flowers with a bright smile as she took in the beautiful spectacle that was nature. She watched as a small honey bee landed on a daisy to collect honey. Her sapphire eyes gaze up beyond the tree leaves where she could observe what appeared to be a distant planet, close enough for her to see the beauty it held. It was like gazing upon the moon in her home dimension.
"How beautiful," Maria commented. It had been so long since she last took in the wonderful sights this planet had to offer. It was like she was back in her own reality. She sighed, thinking back to all the beauty sights that planet earth had to offer. The sparkling blue seas, the calmness of the natural grown flora.
The hedgehog opened her eyes to see that very planet through a glass window. The windows reflection however did not display a form she was familiar with. Instead of bright yellow quills, Maria saw flesh and blonde shoulder length hair. This image sparked confusion about the hedgehog's physical appearance. She leaned in with a hand placed against the window, the reflection becoming more clear.
"Maria," a calm yet deep voice called out to her. A hand reached out and pulled her arm.
"Maria!" The voice called yet again, only this time it was young and perplexed. Maria opened her eyes once again, she turned around and noticed a boy with lime green skin and elfin ears. This child wore a forest green hooded cloak with tribal symbols along its center.
"Huh, Lance?" Maria gasped. The world around her returned to the modern-day forest. She looked at the child named Lance, confusion plagued her mind. She thought back to that strange and foreign memory.
Who was that girl in the window? She wondered. That place she was in couldn't have been one of her cousin's fortresses, and that woman wasn't like anyone she had ever met. She seemed familiar yet was a complete stranger. Maria looked back at Lance and noticed the worry present within his big black eyes.
"Your wristband is making a weird sound," he pointed out. Lance pointed at Maria's communication wristband, which was in fact making static noises. Maria stared at it for only a second when a loud familiar voice shouted from its speakers.
"Earth to Maria, did you find anything or not?" The voice asked. Maria shook her head and remembered that the voice belonged to Shade the echidna.
"Sorry," she quickly apologized. The blonde hedgehog brought the communicator beneath her lower lip and spoke. "No, sorry."
"Nothing in the air either," another voice claimed. Maria recognized this one as SNT's voice. The hybrid watched everything from above the forest with a determined look in her eyes.
"But don't worry, Lance. We'll find your sister," she announced. SNT's viridian eyes shifted towards a castle that loomed in the distance. A frown formed on her muzzle as the guardian angel remembered how this search began.
