CJ slowly awoke to the sweet smell of fresh waffles. At first, this seemed like the perfect way to start her morning.

Until she remembered that she lived alone.

Panicked, she shot up in her bed and looked around the room. The door was cracked open slightly, allowing the light from the hall to flood in.

Still groggy from sleep, the blonde slowly crept out of bed and towards the bedroom door. She didn't want to be empty handed, just in case. She grabbed her Macbook off of the dresser and tip-toed into hall and down the stairs.

"Jesus," CJ exhaled with relief as she spotted her best friend sitting on the counter.

"Breakfast!" Corinna explained cheerily. CJ was annoyed, but she ambled down the stairs into the kitchen anyway.

"A heads up next time would be nice." She mumbled. Corinna just shrugged, too interested in her phone.

CJ set her laptop on the table, took a plate of food, and slid up onto the counter next to her best friend.

"8:30?" Corinna asked, still scrolling.

"Huh?"

"Class, babe. I'm taking you." She set her phone down and tussled the blondes bed-head.

"Ugh. Marry me." CJ praised through a mouth full.

"Shower first."

CJ pulled a beanie over her still-damp hair as the girls stepped outside. Just as they walked out, the neighbor from the night before was walking in. Tracy and Corinna exchanged looks as they passed, making the girl blush.

"Do you know him?" She turned CJ, who was lighting her cigarette.

"Not really?" She passed the cigarette to her friend after taking a drag. "He's always selling drugs out here, though."

"He's so fine." Corinna gushed.

"He sells drugs out here." The blonde repeated. Corinna continued smiling as they made their way to her Jeep.

"He sold to this guy last night," CJ continued, "And he was like- I don't know. He was really tall, and he had all these tattoos..."

Corinna shot a look to her friend in the passenger seat. "And you're like, into him? Or..?"

"What? No. God no." She crossed her arms. "Give me my cigarette back."

The girl driving smiled knowingly, but didn't push it any further.

"Fuck." Gus groaned as the sunlight hit his face though the blinds.

Layla was still sleeping, her head on his bare chest. He reached out and grabbed his phone from the nightstand to check the time.

It was almost 3 p.m.

Gustav rubbed his tired eyes before sitting up in the bed. He carefully pushed the messy black hair out of Layla's face, calling her name to wake her up.

The girls eyes slowly started opening, her lips forming a smile as they met Gustav's.

"Morning." She yawned, snuggling closer to him.

"Morning. Get up."

"Excuse me?" She frowned.

"I have to piss, dude. Get up." He softly started pushing her off of him.

"You're such an asshole." Layla grumbled. Gus just shrugged it off, wandering into the bathroom across the hall.

Gus was used to not remembering the night before. When he wasn't doing any shows, he spent most nights partying, drinking, doing drugs, and then recovering so he could do it all again. So waking up next to Layla, or really any girl, and not thinking about much else was normal.

Thinking about one specific girl that she borrowed a cigarette from once? He felt confused, and even annoyed. He stood in front of the mirror, hands on the sink as he looked himself over, then splashed cold water in his face, hoping it would snap him out of it.

The man made his way through the house, casually stepping over passed-out bodies along the way. He walked outside, meeting Layla on the front steps, sat along side her and accepted when she passed him the blunt she was smoking. They didn't speak, just smoked.

They liked each other better when they weren't sober.
