"WHY DID YOU GIVE HIM SUGAR!" Ritchie screamed as he had to chase his insanely fast insane cousin around the guildhall.
Kit had gotten the bright idea to give the boys both a couple of candy bars. Honestly, neither of them need it, Ritchie since he couldn't eat, and Michael cause it would make him insane, but they accepted it anyway to be nice. Only for Michael to eat the candy bar ten minutes later and start vibrating due to the sugar content within the bar.
If they weren't on an island, Michael would be halfway to China now.
Honestly, half of the speed was his cousin's insanity on sugar high and the other half was his inability to stop. Michael was serious when he said that he had to burn off the sugar after consuming it and for some reason, Kit had given him a bar of chocolate that was basically pure sugar.
Michael tried running around another corner only to nearly run into someone. Luckily, he didn't knock into the guy but he nearly did. He did, however, circle back when he realized that the guy seemed familiar. Which caused Ritchie to catch him but he didn't care too too much as that meant he got a better look at the guy who was now looking at the two of them curiously.
"So this was what Ritchie and Brandon meant by two kids from a different dimension." The gravelly voice said. "I'm-"
"Bjorn." Ritchie and Michael cut him off simultaneously, causing Zaro to sigh at being interrupted. Then he asked. "How exactly do you two know my name?"
"We know a version of you in our world." Ritchie replied simply even as he smiled fondly at the thought of his and Brandon's bodyguard.
"Hmmmm, what is he like?" Zaro asked as he looked down at the kids. Ritchie thought about it for a moment before saying. "He's very strong and very protective. He'd do anything for someone he cared about."
Zaro nodded before he suddenly looked between the two kids. "Hmmm, I thought Ritchie said that neither of you have magics?"
"We don't?" Michael and Ritchie were both confused.
"I would beg to differ. When you've lived for as long as I have, you learn to sense magics to a certain extent. While yours isn't quite as obvious, little Ritchie, your cousin's seems to have been growing since he's been here." Zaro told them before adding thoughtfully. "Probably speed magics considering how fast you were running, little Michael, while little Ritchie's reminds me of my own strengthening magic."
"Huh, cool." Ritchie said in interest.
"Hmmm a little strange, I wouldn't think we'd develop magic coming into a different world. It isn't like our gene- wait, I just got an idea." Michael got a huge grin on his face and in an instant, he had escaped from Ritchie's hold and was off like a rocket.
Ritchie just stood in place for a moment before Zaro said. "Yes, definitely speed magics."
Ritchie groaned before turning to Zaro and saying. "It was nice meeting you! I gotta go catch up with him before he does anything insane."
With that he transformed into a bat and flew off after Michael, making Zaro blink before saying. "... I need a drink."
Meanwhile, Michael was back in the field in front of the Protectors' guest house and had started summoning parts for another machine.
"I thought my other self and Brandon said not to build anything else unless we were 65% certain it would work?" Ritchie had to ask.
"I am 79.5% my new idea will work." Michael said before quickly sketching it out on a piece of paper and handing the paper to his cousin.
"... What is this supposed to mean?" Ritchie said not understanding the figure that his cousin had put in front of him.
"Its another portal that takes into account what our genetics are now and what they were before we came into this world." Michael explained to him. "I didn't realize before we talked with Zaro but we didn't even have the capabilities for magics back in our world. Therefore, it shouldn't be possible that we would be getting them here. And since this is the case, then its possible whatever caused us to come into this world changed our genetics ever so slightly to allow for us to start gaining actual magics. Since I didn't take that into account when making the portals before, that is a possibility as to how they failed in the first place."
Ritchie understood what his cousin was trying to say to him on a certain level but on the other hand, he saw a flaw with his cousin's plan. Or more like, how he was going about with his plan.
"Cousin Michael, wouldn't it be beneficial to fully sketch out your idea in one of your notebooks before going ahead with this." Michael looked at him sharply even as he explained. "While this is slightly detailed, it's not enough to go about making a portal based on it. Also if you're working from your head, you could accidentally leave something out without realizing it and then you would be back at square one."
Michael sighed as he realized his cousin was right. He stopped summoning parts and instead pulled a notebook from his pocket and started scribbling down all his thoughts.
"Don't worry, Cousin Michael, if your idea works, we'll be home soon." Ritchie tried to cheer up his cousin.
Michael just looked up at him with dark eyes before asking.
"But what if it doesn't?"
Ritchie didn't have an answer.
