Chapter 20

Austin kept an even pace with the Divinus Magia members as they headed for the Protectors' guest hall. He was ready to help wherever he could though he had a feeling he would be staying more on the sidelines for this fight. That was fine though. He had already seen enough fighting to last a lifetime and wasn't in a hurry to be the main player of a major fight. 

As they entered the scene, Austin could already see that most of the Protectors were looked worse for wear. One of them, Jakey he thought his name was, was even passed out on the ground. He frowned even as the older Ritchie and Brandon started giving out orders to their guild members. He knew what he was doing first. 

As everyone rushed off to their designated fights, Austin leapt down into the broken guest hall and picked up Jakey. Placing the unconscious time mage on his back, he picked up Oliver as well before taking them to the docks. He trusted Leo to take care of them as well until this matter was settled and well, the fact that he came back without any scratches was a comfort to his godson and the worried spirit. 

Just as he was walking back to the fight, he spotted David having some trouble with one of the water mages in the garden. Well, not trouble per se but he was underestimating his opponent if the taunting and the water rising up behind h- wait a second. 

Austin ran forward and pushed the water mage out of the way of the jet-like stream of water. Good thing too as that one had made a literal hole in the earth. Steadying David on his feet, Austin told him. "Try to keep a better eye on your surroundings son."

David stared at him for a moment before nodding once and charging back into battle. Trusting that David would be alright, Austin started towards the island to help whoever was there. The island had started this whole mess and with any luck, if they took out the main person there, it would decommission the rest of the dark guild. 

Soon he was standing below the island... with no clear way up. Considering his options, he glanced around him, only to smile as he spotted a large tree. Perfect, that would be the perfect springboard. 

He climbed into the tree before getting into a jumping stance. While it had been a while since he had made jumps like this, he had no doubt he could do it. Besides, even if he didn't make it the entire way up, he only needed to get a hand on the island and he would be able to haul himself up easily. 

Taking a deep breath, he jumped using his werewolf strength... and just barely managed to grab hold of the side of the island, wheezing. He managed to get his breath back but he still wheezed. "Am I really that old?"

Austin shook his head before beginning his ascent onto the island. It took about ten minutes, but when he arrived, he could see Eden facing off against Lo Pho... and appearing to be winning. He wasn't looking Austin's way, however, which gave him an opportunity. 

Unsheathing his claws, Austin leapt forward to take a slash at the mage. Before he could even make contact with him, however, a hand had shot out and grabbed his wrist even as the mirage in front of him disappeared. His head snapped up to see Eden looking at him in confusion. 

"Hmmm, you look like Silver, but at the same time, you're clearly not..." The arc of embodiment mage looked at him thoughtfully before he suddenly laughed. "Oh my, and here I thought that they had only summoned those mini versions of Michael and Ritchie! Ha!"

"What!" Austin gasped. 

AN: And that's it! Who is the they that Eden is referring to? Find out next time (I promise it won't be as long of a wait!)

Also, I have a small piece to say here as well. So I know that there was a mention about Austin being a lot older than Silver but I'm gonna clarify how much older. He and Bri have many children and their oldest is Athena, who moved out ten years ago. To move out in the modern world, usually a child would have to be at least eighteen. That would make Athena twenty-eight. Austin and Bri were married when they had Athena. They would have gotten married as adults and assuming they got married when they turned eighteen and had Athena then as well that would then make them around forty-six at the least. So yeah, Austin's a lot older than Silver... I just wanted to put this in here to explain why Austin is wheezing.
