Quick AN: Ok so just so you guys who read the message on my other story, this chapter was already done when I put that message up. Daycare Kids in Fairy Tail Origins gets updated slower due to being a chapter type story. The whole taking a break message in my FTO Mario Oneshots book is reserved for that book because that book is usually uploaded daily. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the chapter, peace!
There was a slight problem when they went to leave, however. As soon as Ritchie stepped outside, he hissed in pain nearly running back inside.
"What's wrong?" Brandon asked in concern, even as Michael's eyes widened in understanding. "I forgot, the sun visor machine isn't here."
"Sun visor?" Silver had to ask.
"Vampires can't walk in broad daylight, back home and at daycare, there was a machine that would make it so that they can but here, we don't have one." Michael explained.
"That may be an issue." Older Ritchie noted.
"Well once we get there, I can summon the parts so that I can build it but it doesn't work if you carry it around with you so I don't know how we can get to wherever your guildhall is." Michael told him.
"Oh, that's much less of an issue then." Older Michael said as he offered a hand to Ritchie. "I can go ahead and shadow travel him over. No contact with the sun whatsoever."
"Good idea." Older Ritchie nodded before adding. "Since you'll arrive quicker than us, you can just shadow travel to our office. No one should be there."
Older Michael nodded even as Ritchie took his offered hand. With a quick wave goodbye, they disappeared into the shadows. The others headed to Divinus Magicae's boat.
After a long ride, Michael rushed off the boat as soon as they hit port. He really didn't like being separated from the one thing that was truly familiar to him for this long. Of course, he waited for the rest of them as he didn't know where to go, but he was very antsy even as they entered the guildhall.
The second they entered, a small bat came flying down the stairs before transforming and grabbing Michael into a tight hug. Older Michael just wasn't the same as Michael himself was. Michael hugged back even as his older version came trailing down the stairs as well rubbing his temples.
"Did he annoy you with annoying kid chatter?" Bri asked him in amusement as the kids weren't really paying attention to them.
"No, he just asks a lot of hard questions that I'm pretty sure he shouldn't even know enough to be asking about them." Michael rubbed his temples.
"Like what?" Bri had to ask.
"Why he looks so tired, what guilds were, what dark guild were, what dark guild do, how often do these dark guilds do damage and what kind, how often murder occurs, if we were going to hide our identities as you guys from a different universe, what kind of technology exists in this world, what his magic was, how god slaying magic works, how other kinds of slayer magic work, etc, etc." Turns out they were wrong, Ritchie was paying attention to what they were saying.
The older of the cousins was standing in front of them even as Michael pulled out a device from his pocket. It was pretty small but size does not always mean power.
"Hey older version of Ritchie, do you know a place I can put this without anyone messing with it?" Michael turned to the bluenette.
Older Ritchie exchanged glances with his twin before saying. "Well I don't think anyone would mess with it in our office."
Michael nodded and so Older Ritchie took him up to his office. Ritchie watched them go before turning back to Older Michael and Bri and saying. "I really don't see how some of those questions were hard."
"What about the murder one?" Bri had to ask. "What five year old even knows about murder?"
"The kind that grew up in the Mafia." Ritchie replied with a wink. They were silent for a moment before Older Michael asked. "What's the Mafia?"
"Hmmm, well using your terms, the closest thing I could get to the Mafia would be a Dark Guild." Bri and Older Michael froze as well as Brandon and Silver who had been sort of listening sort of not.
"Why the heck would you have grown up in a place like that?" Older Michael questioned in complete shock.
"Well when your family is the ruling family of the Mafia, that tends to be where you grow up." Ritchie said as if it were obvious.
"Ruling family?" Bri was shocked but also a little confused.
"Leadership in the mafia is passed down from generation to generation and the ruling family is who takes care of all the leadership positions." Ritchie informed her. "At the moment, my dad and my uncle are the main leaders of the Mafia, so me and Michael both grew up in that environment."
"But you're so nice?" Silver was confused.
"Well yeah, mafia's not all bad, especially to family." Ritchie told him. "Plus I'm only five, at this point, I've only had training to defend myself. Otherwise, I'm at daycare."
"Who teaches a five year old self defense training..." Silver muttered to himself.
"I mean my world can be a pretty dangerous place, your other self teaches your kids self defense and the only affiliation you've got with the mafia is being mine and Michael's godfathers." Ritchie told him.
"... Is it really that bad?" Bri had to ask.
"Lets put it this way." They turned as Michael walked down the stairs. "If you're part of the ruling family/part of the mafia, then you'll go through at least twenty-one assassination attempts before you're ten years old. If you're a vampire or a werewolf, you have to survive hunters who are even more ruthless than the mafia."
The adults looked shocked at this before Silver asked. "What's a werewolf?"
"They have ears and a tail regularly but by the light of the full moon they lose their minds and turn into a full wolf." Michael told him. "You're a werewolf in our world, and so are several of your kids."
The adults let this sink in before Older Ritchie asked. "Wait you guys are five and four, how do you know that it'd be twenty-one before you turn ten?"
Ritchie and Michael exchanged looks before Michael said. "Personally, we've only gone through six so far, we're basing that one on our Brandon's last count."
The adults all fell silent at that before Brandon asked. "How are any of you alive?"
"I told you, family's important. Our parents try not to let anything happen to us but there are still attempts." Michael told them.
"Our parents also have preventive measures put in place, which is why we go to the only daycare our parents trust even though its in a different country." Ritchie added.
"A different country? Why would they trust it if it's in a different country?" Silver asked looking confused.
"We already mentioned that." Ritchie rolled his eyes.
"Huh?" Silver was still confused.
"Did we not say that we go to the daycare that your alternate self and Bri's alternate self run, you know, your alternate self that happens to be our godfather?" Michael shook his head at him.
"Oh." Silver said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck. Seems he had totally forgotten. "Wait how am I not getting targetted? My alternate self is your godfather and from what you said earlier, he's also a werewolf?"
"Well from what I've overheard a few times with your alternate self and Bri's alternate self, you were for a long time but in the most recent years, you've managed to throw any hunters off your scent. As for being associated with us, you live in a different country. Our branch of the mafia is stationed in Europe while you're in America in our world, so most who are still targetting myself and Ritchie are still searching Europe." Michael explained before adding. "Not that people are actively searching for us, they're more likely to be searching for our parents or..."
Michael and Ritchie both frowned. With them completely gone from their world, it was more likely that more targets would be put on his back. That was not good.
"Who?" Older Ritchie prompted.
"Our Brandon." Ritchie said quietly.
