Within the next three months, my parents went house hunting. My mother didn't ask what happened when my dad told her we were moving. I heard them talking in low voices about it. And late that night I heard my mum come to my room and lay in the bed and held onto me as I still hiccuped from crying. In those 3 months, Mika still tried getting in touch with me. His text messages began to turn threatening so I changed my number. He showed up to my work a few times but the seki's would refuse him entry and banned him from the pub. I thought it'd be the last I'd ever hear from him. I was at work when I got a call from my dad to say he was picking me up early cause he and my mum had some news to tell me. I waited inside the pub til I saw my dad's car pull up. When we got home, there was a movers truck in our driveway and the for sale sign had a sold sticker across it.
"Dad someone brought our house already?"
"I" (Yes)
I didn't say anything else as pure joy raced through me. When we walked inside I spun out at how empty our house was. The removal company were taking the boxes to the truck. My mum walked around one of the boxes looking harassed
"Lana go clean out your room, it's the only room left to pack so the cleaners can come in tomorrow."
I walked in and quickly started packing all my stuff up in the boxes. My parents stood at my door and watched me do a rush job shoving everything in the box.
"Are we staying at Auntie's house till we buy one?" I asked.
"No"
"Where are we gonna stay then?"
"Kay loa maua kakou fale." (We've already found our house)
Wow my parents don't joke around...Putting the last of the boxes in the truck, we got in the car and followed the truck to our new home. 45 minutes later, we turned into a driveway. The house was a two story. The house next was as well only it looked bigger and flashier, not that I was complaining. Our new home was big enough for just the three of us. I was already in love with my home. We stepped out of the car and our new neighbors came out. I was a little surprised to see the occupants of the flashy house belonged to a Samoan couple who greeted my parents with warm smiles and gave me a welcoming hug. They watched as the removal guys struggled carrying the bigger furniture out of the truck, even I felt sorry for them. Our new neighbor yelled out
"SAMUELU!"
My mouth hung open at how loud she was, even my parents jumped. A tall guy stood behind the screen door.
"Son, sau si ou Kama e fesoasoagi fa'amolemole (Come my son and help pls)"
Their son called out to someone in the house
"Uce come gimme a hand" opening the screen door and stepping on the veranda.
I stopped breathing. The son was gawd damn..well he was just the definition of GAWD DAAAAAMN!! He was tall and had to be hands down the most sexiest Samoan I've ever seen. He didn't have a shirt on so I could see his sleeve ended across half his chest. Mentally fanning myself I thought I get to live next to that? Lord save me from visually ripping his clothes off. He didn't crack a smile and he was damn fly. When I thought I may have died and gone to heaven, behind him stepped out another guy who looked like he just stepped off the cover of a magazine. He had that bad boy look written all over him. Tall with sleeves covering both his arms and a tatt that said 'God's Souljah' across the span of his torso in old English. They were both cut up and sporting abs a girl could die just running her hands across it. Awuii! They walked over putting a singlet on and shaking my parents hand and greeting me with a smile before heading up to the truck and helping the two workers lift the furniture off it, taking it into our new home. Their features were familiar. They reminded me of someone but I couldn't remember who. I started carrying some boxes inside the house and take a look at my new home.
I bumped into Samuelu on my way out to grab another box
"Oh sorry"
"No that's ok. You an only child?"
"Yea"
"That's a shame."
This was said by bad boy who stood behind me.
"Ah why is it a shame?"
I couldn't think straight with them standing so close to me. It made me want to giggle like a moeps. Bad boy smiled and I nearly fainted lol
"Because you don't have brothers to watch out for you. But since we're neighbors now we'll take that duty on. I'm Kenai by the way"
"Kenai like the movie brother bear?"
"Yea the same. Seeing as I was born before that movie came out, I can safely say my mother didn't name me after the movie character" I giggled, I thought he was funny and a little touched they chose to look out for me.
We all walked out to the truck when a flashy Audi pulled into next doors driveway. Samuelu looked at his watch before speaking
"Lil cub work back today?"
"Yea he called mum earlier to tell her he was working late."
"What time did he start?"
"Last night at 8."
"He works too much" my neighbors seemed angry about something that had to do with a cub.
The person in the car still had their music playing loud. Finally turning off the engine and getting out of the car his back was turned so I could only see the top half of his shoulder. He wore a snap back, walking to the back of his car opening his boot. Kama had no shirt on either! Seem to be a habit with my neighbors. I still couldn't see his face with his hat pulled down low but I got a view of his upper body too. Down the left side of his ribs was a tatt of a bible scripture with a design of an open scroll. On his back going from between his shoulder blade down his spine was thick Asian writing shaded with fob patterns inside it. He grabbed his bag out, locking his car about to go inside when Kenai called out.
"Bro" the guy turned not realising we were there. Why does he look like someone I know? He walked to the fence between our yard and I watched as the 3 boys were in deep conversation. Samuelu looked over at me and called me over. I walked up hearing Kenai talking to the guy before noticing me.
"Kaylana this is our youngest brother and baby of the family. We call him little cub but his name is Tavita."
The guy pulled his hat up and graced me with a 'Hey' before pulling it over his face and turning back to Kenai and Samuelu. I stood there looking gobsmacked. I KNOW HIM! No wonder why the two seemed familiar to me. I went to school with Tavita, remember my arch nemesis Lauina? It was his gf in school. Well damn this world is small. Bloody hell I moved next door to my high school crush. He didn't even recognize me either. Typical!
