"Thanks, Mom, for dropping her off, I won't have her home too late."
Jacob told my Mom as he shut the car door after helping me get out. "Jacob, will you or Mark be bringing Allie home?" Mom asks Jacob.
"No Mom we're going to let her walk herself home for the next 20 minutes"
I laughed along with Jacob, "It would be more like an hour and 20 minutes for me." Jacob was laughing even harder now. Mom had a frown on her face now, "That is not funny you two." My Mom never understood mine and Jacob's sense of humor when we were together.
"Chill Mom, of course, I'll be bringing her home," Jacob told our Mom. She started the car getting ready to leave.
"Oh, Allie you don't need your wheelchair, do you?" I think for a second, "I don't think so, we're not going anywhere I don't think." I look up at Jacob making sure.
"No, we're just staying in the house" he answered. "Ok I'll better get going then, I see you guy's back at the house."
"Bye Mom," we both say as we watched Mom leave Jacob's housing state.
I linked Jacob's arm walking up to his house. "So why did you want me to come over?" I ask Jacob as we stepped inside. "Well, I did ask you to come over last week, and can't a big brother hang out with his little sis?" Jacob says with a big cheeky smile on his face as I let go of his arm walking toward the living room to sit down on the couch.
There was food already laid out on the table. Sandwiches, some fruit on sticks, and then some chicken salad. It all looked so yummy. My brother always knew how to be a good host. "What is all this?" I ask, taking one of the fruit sticks. Jacob laughed at me.
"Do you think I don't know you Allie and how much you love your food?"
I laugh, yeah maybe he does know me too well. Jacob goes into the kitchen to get some drinks and glasses. "So, where's Mark?" "He should be home any minute," he replied, bringing out a jug of water with ice while having three glasses in his other hand.
"So, Mom was telling me you have met a few of your new doctors, how are they?" he asks me as he sits down beside me on the couch. "oh, they're ok, they want me to go for speech therapy and some physio in a few weeks. It's simply weird getting used to everything changing."
"I know sis, just give it some time and I promise you it gets better. When I first moved here with Mark, I was missing home a lot. I missed seeing my friends every day, going to my favorite places, Mom and Dad, and mostly you Allie, I missed you every day. you and I were so close, I missed bringing you to the movies and you watching me while I would cook. "I think that was when you started to want to be a chef? I cut into his sentence. Jacob smiles while he starts to pour some water out into the glasses for us. "Yeah, I think it was. I remember I would always use to bake with Mom from a young age and I would love it"
"Yeah, I would love your food more than Mom's, but don't tell her I said that." Jacob snorted out a laugh. "No, I'm so telling Mom now." Our laughter died down. "Look on the bright side Allie, you get to see your big brother more offing now." Jacob was right, I was so happy I get to see Jacob more, I've been missing him and Mark ever since they left. I'm so glad I came here. He always knew how to put a smile on my face. "Yeah, your right."
The front door opens, "Hello?" Mark walks into the house, setting his bag to the ground. Jacob got up to welcome home his husband. I began to stand up in front of the Couch waiting to hug Mark. "Allie I haven't seen you in so long, I've missed you." He came over to where I was standing to give me a big hug.
"So how are you liking Beverly Hills?"
I rolled my eyes falling back down onto the couch. "Yeah, she is not a big fan of it yet," Jacob told Mark.
We all sat down for the next 10 to 20 minutes catching up, and they told me about their jobs. Jacob works part-time in a five-star restaurant uptown, and Mark is studying to become a lawyer. Jacob and Mark are so different, Mark likes to know what is coming, he always has a good head on his shoulders compared to Jacob. Jacob was more carefree to Mark, he would be more relaxed and not afraid to have fun, but together they were perfect.
They both asked me why I am so unhappy living here. I tell them I just missed being home, being around all my friends and everything was changing, I was never a fan of any big changes, But I'm hanging in there for Dad. There was a knock on the door, Jacob and Mark both look at each other and for some reason, they both looked nervous. "Are you guys expecting someone?" I ask them curiously as Mark got up to answer the door.
"Hi, we're so happy you could make it; did you get here ok?" Mark says after he opened the door letting a young beautiful woman that's look in her mid-20s. She had short brunette hair to her shoulders, she was wearing a bright yellow sundress with white sandals on her feet. But there was one thing that stood out more than anything: her small round baby bump. Right now, I was wondering who this woman was because I'd never seen her before.
Jacob got up off the couch to walk over to Mark and the beautiful woman, looking like they were happy to see each other.
"Hi, you must be Allie." The young woman came around to where I was sitting. "Yeah, I am," I say as I'm putting my hand out to shake hers. She sat beside me, and Jacob and Mark sat on the other couch beside us. "I'm Molly, I heard so much about you and I was so excited to meet you." look over to Jacob to see he was grinning ear to ear right now, while Mark was gone into the kitchen for another glass for Molly. "Molly, would you like water or some orange juice?" Mark called from the kitchen. "Water is fine, thank you," she replied. Mark came back into the living room with a glass for Molly.
"So, Allie, are you looking forward to starting School? I heard you're going to East Beverly High." I nodded wondering how she knew that. "Yeah, I start on Monday but to be honest I could be more excited" I replied. Molly looked over to Jacob and Mark. I knew she didn't know what I'd just said, so Jacob answered for me. "She's starting on Monday, but she is not really looking forward to going." Molly looked in my direction, "Not really looking forward to starting the new School, huh?." I smiled as I shook my head. "No not really," I said while letting out a shy laugh.
"So how long have you known my Brother and Mark?" I ask, trying to change the subject, I'd didn't want to talk about starting a new School right now.
I knew when Molly looked over to the guys, by her expression it looked like she was unsure what to say.
"Actually, Allie we've been wanting you to meet Molly for a while now," Mark said as I was still confused, Jacob spoke up next. "Allie, Molly is going have a baby for us." I look over to my brother and his husband in shock, I didn't even know Jacob and Mark were even thinking of having children. "So, you're going to adopt her baby?" "Exactly," Jacob says. "Does Mom and Dad know?" I ask with excitement. "Of course, they know" Jacob is by my side now. "we're sorry we didn't tell you sooner, we wanted to wait until everything was ok with the baby." I looked over at Molly
"Is it?"
"I'm almost 16 weeks now, and the baby is perfectly healthy. Even though this was a huge surprise, I'm still a little hunt I was last to know. As Jacob and Mark said, they wanted to wait till the baby was ok. I'd look at my big brother while beaming at my excited smile. "Wow, I'm going to be an aunt!"
Later that night when Jacob and Mark brought me home, I told my Mom I knew about Jacob and Mark's baby, she was so happy that she didn't have to keep it a secret anymore. When Dad got home, the five of us sat around the kitchen table talking about the soon new baby that is coming into our family. This was the best news I'd heard since we moved to Beverly Hills.
