A blank stare was all I got from Mama. It had been a solid seven minutes since I brought up the trip. I think she just glitched. You see, I have never really left our state, let alone the country. I'm my only mother's daughter, so I was well taken care of. Plus I have two older brothers so I was protected too.

Mama might have been stalling or just thinking of a way to respond without raising her blood pressure. Truthfully I just think she was avoiding giving me an answer. I don't blame her either. Another trip with Morg? And after I'd been doing so well.

"I..." she started.

As a sweat bead trickled down my forehead I waited.

"I am not so sure I should let you go. However, you are 18 and a legal adult, so you are able to make your own decisions, but the fact that you are asking me for permission shows me that you still need your Mama."

"You may go with Morgen love, but you must contact me when you lay your head at night and when you wake up. I don't care what time it is. I just want to make sure you're safe."

I ran and gave her the biggest hug I ever gave her. I'm so happy that I have a mother like her. Given she can be hard-headed person, and stubborn, I still love her the same way.

"Thank you, Ma."

I went back to my room to call Morgen and let her know of the news. Before I could, I got a glimpse of the photo of my old boyfriend and I at the fair. The photo was taken at sunset, perfect for a wedding photo or a cover photo.

"Ooh let's take a picture before we lose the sun!" I said giddily.
My boyfriend Terell smiled warmly as he walked behind me.
We had gone to the fair every year since we'd been dating and it was going on three years.
"Okay but I'm gonna find someone to take them."

He went up to another group of teens and asked them to come to take our pictures. It turned out that one of them was a photographer and instead of using my phone, he used his camera. The guy posed us exactly with the setting sun, it was beautiful.

"I love our photos." I excitedly stated. We thanked the group and went on our way.

"See, aren't you glad you have such a photogenic boyfriend?" He proudly asked.

"I was just about to ask you that!" I tickled his sides before running off so he couldn't return the laughs.

I guess I didn't realize that I had been crying, cause my face was wet with tears.

Darnell was a year above me and left for college last fall. We tried long distance but it didn't work out. I knew he was wanting to end it so he wouldn't hurt me but he did.

He was my first boyfriend. I haven't dated since then.

I wiped my tears away and finally called Morgen.

"Hey love, what did your mom say?" She asked as soon as I called.

"I'm going, but with a condition." I moved with quickness to grab my luggage bags from my full closet.

"What are the conditions?" She questioned with an attitude.

"Relax Mae, all I have to do is call before I go to sleep," I said leaving out the part about me having to call when we land and every morning.

My parents weren't strict per se, but they did have rules. I couldn't go out without telling one of them where I was and who I was with. I could stay over at a friend's house, but my parents had to know theirs.
And the last one which is my favorite, no boys are allowed in my room with the door closed.

See they weren't strict, they didn't beat me with creative weapons, like an extension cord and a switch from outside. I was the lucky kid. My brothers were a different story.

My brother Tyler, got the worst of it. He had three girls in his room and he got caught doing the nasty with them each time. You'd think that he would've gotten more clever with his deceit but no not Tyler. Pops had beat him so badly one time, that he had welts on his behind for three straight days. Still, Tyler just got more alert to my Pops patterns. He got so good, that my pops thought he was getting tutoring from this girl down the street but he was really beating them cheeks.

My older brother Julian was a different story. He had the sneaky gene. This boy was dating four girls at once. He had designated days for each girl. Monday's were for Tasha, the pretty light skin that stayed up the road; Tuesday was for Sarah, the flutist with the big titties; Wednesday and Thursday were for his Pooh Kaiya, they had been dating the longest. And the weekend was for his sports and whatever girl was available to be in the photos.

"This whiskey got me feeling pretty, so pardon me if I'm impolite,  I just need your ass with me, I'm sorry about the other night."

Right on cue, Jules walked in wearing his heart on his sleeve. He and his boo Kailya had ended it, well she did. After she found out about his other hoes. I don't see why she ended it, Jules was always going on and on about her and their future, and about how many kids they were going to have, and blah, blah, blah.

Let me just say more power to her 'cause these guys out here wildin' and it's getting ridiculous.

"When are you gonna get your head out of your ass and call her?" I was fed up with his heartbroken behind.

He sniffles and says, "When she takes me back. Where did I go wrong?" He threw his arms up and fell on my bed.

I was done with his exaggerations so I grabbed my phone and headphones from my dresser and played Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep?

A few hours later...

"There, I'm all packed." I was zipping my bag when I realized that Julian was sound asleep, again.

I quietly tipped toed to the other side of my bed and grabbed my bullhorn.

"Wake your butt up! You do this every time you get in your feelings."

Jules jolted up and fell off my bed with a thud.

"OW! MA!!! Ma tells her she can't go! She hurt my already hurt feelings." He quickly recovered and I had to make my escape.
