"You're what?"
"I'm bi, James."
Sirius Black curled softly into the oversized sweater he stole from Remus. Tucking his knees into the maroon cable knit, he poked Moony's arm, drawing the boy out of his stupor.
"What do you think about it?" He smirked, but nervously, picking at a loose hangnail on his thumb.
"Oh... good for you Pads," he mumbled faintly, barely focusing on the group. His gaze instead drifted into a focus of the common room, glittering in the blazing lights of the fireplace.
"What's up?" Peter said quietly.
"I just... don't want it this month."
He didn't need to specify what 'it' was. The other three knew that, while the pale half-moon hung in the sky, they drew ever close to that horrible night in which Moony became a monster.
Sirius, of course, could never see his best friend as a monster; last month, he got too close, forgetting that the werewolf he fought to protect could still hurt him. While the scarlet welts that lined his arms were covered by his sleeves, they were still in the back of Remus' mind. And boy was he scared.
"Maybe you should let me do it alone this month," he mumbled, breaking the apprehensive silence, "I don't want to hurt anyone."
Without hesitating, the Marauders began protesting loudly. The idea of abandoning one of their own was simply ridiculous.
"Shut up, mate - we're not gonna do that, and you know it," James scoffed.
Remus sighed anxiously, scratching his nose.
"Fine."
Sirius grinned, an idea forming in his head. His ideas were never good, but this one might just help.
"Come on, cheer up!" He hopped towards the miserable looking boy, climbing onto his knee.
Immediately, Remus' cheeks grew pink and his eyes widened to icy blue saucers.
"Let's play a game." Wriggling into place, Sirius pressed himself into Moony.
Suddenly, Lily piped up from across the room. Without even raising her eyes from the book she was enveloped in, she yelled, "Truth or dare!"
"Lily, that's so lame," James laughed, but after a quick glare from his girlfriend, he muttered something about it being fun.
"Uh, s-sure." Moony replied.
"I'll start!" Wormtail climbed up from his spot on the hearth, animated now.
"Sirius, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Okay," Pettigrew gave him a devilish grin, his two front teeth appearing far too big for his face, "I dare you to make out with Moony."
Remus wheezed.
"You what?" He spluttered.
"Come on, we can tell you're into each other, get on with it."
"I-" he paused, about to continue his complaints. But before he could, his eyes fell on Padfoot's plump, pink lips, and his breath hitched in his chest.
Sirius, already straddling him, pressed his lips to Moony's. They fit perfectly, moving fluidly and needing against each other. Once their eyes fluttered shut, it was easy to forget the others in the common room. No one mattered but each other. Remus wound his fingers into Sirius' mane of curls, realising that his hair smelled earthy, like he had just been stood in the rain. His own scent driver Sirius crazy, faint coconuts and coffee making him want even more.
"I said make out, not shag."
Remus gasped again, remembering the (now kind of large) crowd around them. Pettigrew was sniggering with undeserved pride, eyeing the pair. He attempted to stand up, but with Padfoot still resting on his thighs, they ended up in an tangled heap on the floor.
"Come on, you useless lump," Sirius pulled his jumper straight, "We're going upstairs."
