Chapter 13 - The Recovery

3rd Person POV:

Remus was released from the hospital a week later, with stitches on his head, a cast around his torso, a sling for his arm, and his burnt legs slightly mended. Sirius was there for 2 full days, not leaving the hospital until Remus forced him to go home, have a shower and sleep. "I am already in pain, we don't need you in pain as well," Remus said. 

So Sirius did just that.  He went home and returned the next day morning. The day Remus was released, Sirius gently moved Remus onto his wheelchair, rolled him out of the hospital and took him home. 

It's been 2 months since then. Remus' arm and rib had healed, his legs were nearly healed as well. James proposed to Lily a week ago and it was very emotional. Right now, the couple was sitting on the couch with a book open, deciding on essentials for their wedding. 

"Date?", Remus asked.

"I don't know," Sirius replied.

"Month?"

"I don't know."

"Venue?"

"Any place you want."

"Colour scheme?"

"Could be anything cause you look good in everything."

Remus snaps the book shut and looks at Sirius. "You seriously didn't plan or think of anything?", Remus asked.

"No, I did not, I was concerned about you, and I am always Sirius," Sirius replied, grinning at the end.

Remus sighed and then giggled before saying, "We need to plan this wedding, Siri. I need your help to do this as soon as possible because I cannot wait to officially call myself your husband."

Sirius kisses him on the forehead and replies, "Me neither. So, what do we need to do?"

"Ah, shit!", Remus whispers, getting out of bed at night. He hit his burnt but recovering leg on the bedside table while going to get a glass of water, making it sting. The pain was slowly spreading, but he didn't want to wake Sirius up. He already had a lot of his mind and wasn't able to sleep properly for so long because of him, that Remus felt if he disturbed him right now, it would tip Sirius over the edge, he would get really annoyed, cut off the engagement and leave him.

He slowly got up and started walking towards the kitchen, grimacing with every step as the throbbing in his leg increased. Remus reach the kitchen and sat down at the table, with tears pricking his eyes at the pain. When he started getting out of the chair to get the water, he felt a hand on his shoulder pushing him back down on to the chair. 

"What do you think you are doing?", Sirius asks sleepily.

"...Getting water...", Remus answered shyly.

"And why didn't you wake me up?", Sirius inquires, hands on his hips.

"Because I didn't want to disturb you more than I did the past 2 months," Remus answers, looking at the floor because he was unable to meet his fiance's eyes. 

Sirius kneels down in front of Remus, to be at eye level, and lifts his face up with his hand. "Remus, you don't think that I will get tired of you, do you?"

Remus looks down at the floor in shame before answering, "I don't know, it's just, everyone has a tipping point and I am scared that once you reach it, you will break the engagement off."

Sirius' heart breaks into a million pieces. It actually hurts in his chest. "Rem, I love you. I am going to stay beside you through everything, no matter what. Even if I don't get sleep for the rest of my life, I don't mind, as long as you are not in pain."

"Really?", Remus asks hesitantly.

"Really."

Remus pulls Sirius in for a hug and whispers, "I love you."

Sirius has a small smile on his face as he replies, "I love you too. So much." He kisses his fiance on the lips gently before saying, "Right, you wanted water, correct?"

Remus nods his head in agreement. Sirius stands up, gets a glass of water, and hands it to Remus. He drinks it and then tries to stand up, but his leg stars throbbing again. 

"Ah!", Remus exclaims.

"Love! Are you okay? What happened? Did you hit your leg in something?", Sirius asks worriedly. Remus is in too much pain to answer, so he just nods his head.

"Okay, sit here. I will get the medications," Sirius says before rushing to get them. He came back in a minute with a box of creams and bandages. "Okay, where is it hurting?"

Remus pointed to the part of his leg right below the knee. Sirius gently applied the antiseptic cream to soothe the pain. It started working a few seconds later, but it was still paining.

Sirius then did the stupidest thing.

He picked Remus up and carried him bridal style, all the way to their room.  He reached the room and miraculously, didn't kill either of them. He got in bed with Remus, kissed him on the lips, and switched off the lights. 2 minutes later, he could hear Rem snoring away to glory. 

Sirius slowly drifted off as well, with his soon-to-be-husband in his arms, safe and sound.
