Chavez got better and John took me and Chavez and Balto into town with him to pick up some supplies for the ranch. It was a good day but then our good day turned bad really fast. The Murphy and Dolan boys showed up at John's store to start trouble just like that had always done. I got ready to fight but Chavez stops me and tells me that John doesn't want me to get into trouble. and Balto growls at them standing between us and them. I go inside and get John. I make a run for it I run into the woods and one of the Murphy and Dolan boys fires his gun at me as I run into the woods. The bullet hits me in the middle of my back and I fall to the ground. Chavez hears the gun shot and goes looking for me after they leave and it is safe for him to go look for me. Chavez finds me in the grave yard bleeding badly. he brings me back to the ranch and lays me on the bed and he stays by my bed day and night. and the doctor tells John that there was very little hope of me pulling through but Chavez refused to give up on me. and the doctor doesn't know about the Irish fighting sprit. later that night I woke up and smiled at Chavez my older brother. we may not be brothers by bleed but you don't have to related by blood to be family Chavez and I are brothers and I won't have it any other way.
