Chavez and I and Custer and Balto goes into town for a day of fun and we are enjoying our selves. but then our fun ends very very quickly those damn Murphy and Dolan boys show up and one of them hits Chavez and Balto bites the one that hit Chavez. I go get John and when I get back with John. I see that one of the is going to shoot Chavez and Balto I step in front of Chavez and Balto I take the bullet that was meant for them in the chest and with out a scream or a cry or a word I fall to the ground. John gets Judge Roy Bean and tells him what happened. I lay on the ground at Chavez's feet and Judge bean has the Murphy and Dolan boys locked up. John sends for the doctor to help me. the doctor tells John that the next hours and days and weeks are very touch and go for me right now. that sometime that night I am going to reach a point of crisis if I passed it then it was all well and good but if not who knows. but he has done all that he could for me he tells John to stay with me and to call him if he needed him and he would come by in the morning to check on me. Chavez stayed by my bedside day and night by the 8th week I woke up and saw Chavez sitting in a chair by my bed. I reached and took his hand in my hand and gave him a weak smile. I do the very same thing for Chavez because that is what brothers do for each other with out question.
