Buck woke up the next morning his heart beating just as fast as it did the day of the tsunami. He could barley breathe, and sat there for five minutes, with his eyes closed, evening his breathing. When he opened his eyes he was suddenly back in the water with thousands of bodies around him, one body in particular had him uneasy. The body of a little boy with a yellow striped shirt and khakis on. It was Christopher. Buck quickly closed his tear-filled eyes. "He's alive, Buck, and he's safe, at home with Eddie." Buck took a couple minutes and opened his eyes again, and was back at his apartment.
Buck got ready quickly. He drove his car to a parking garage that was six miles away from the station, and he walked the rest of the way to work. He deeply needed the fresh air. He needed to cool off before work today. He needed to get his emotions in check, so the team don't suspect that anything is wrong.
When Buck got to the station, he was sweaty and a little out of breath. He brushed the team off by saying he went for a morning run. He then took a shower at the station. As he was in the shower, the water that was hitting his skin was making it hard for him to catch his breath. His brain kept on going back to that day, no matter how hard he tried to push it to the back of his brain. As each drip of water hit his skin, he lost the ability to breathe more and more. He quickly turned the shower off, and stood there with tears rolling down his face. He quickly wiped his eyes, and regained his breathing ability.
"I don't know about y'all but I'm clean and refreshed, and am ready for work." Buck said with the smile he had put on his face.
"Spare us of your chirpiness." Hen said.
"As you wish." Buck replied.Right after he spoke they got a call. There was an explosion at a firm. She. They got there. Multiple people were injured. They just went around to check on everyone. Seeing some of these people injured and scared took Buck right back to the tsunami. He remembers all the injured and dead people he past trying to find Christopher. He couldn't help any of them because he was so preoccupied with his search. Today's different though. He's not focused on finding Christopher. One hundred percent of his focus is helping the people around him that are injured. He helped one after the other until the disaster was over.
As they got back to the station Buck told the team he had to make a quick call. He stepped outside and called Carla, who was watching Christopher. "Hey Carla, just wanted to check on Christopher." He said.
"He's doing just fine. I think he misses hanging with you though."
"I miss him too. You think you can put him on."
"Buck!" He heard Christopher's cheerful voice come through the phone.
"Hey buddy. Are you having fun?"
"Yeah. Me and Carla are playing with Legos!" His cheerfulness warmed Buck's pained heart.
