We stood in a line, facing Aramantha's house. I remembered that the first time I had seen this mansion, I had thought how pretty and incredible it had looked. That was before I went in, and realized how deceiving looks could be. Now, I observed the mansion with a scornful expression on my face, though it still couldn't wipe out the smile that kept on appearing.
After Aramantha suddenly announced that she was going back to her house, she had explained to us why she was going back.
Of course, she could never hate her parents. They did raise her, no matter how strictly, and no matter how many secrets had laid in between their relationship. But I knew she would always hold something against her parents for exiling her brother. For taking away the chance of having an older brother to talk to, to share memories with, and to grow up together.
And for that reason, she was determined to not let her parents take away any more possible connections she may have with her brother.
"You see....do you still remember when you had came, and I was leading you out of the house?" Aramantha had asked, as we walked among the crowd.
"Oh yeah.....your mother was talking to some guests, right?" I recalled.
Aramantha nodded, "did you hear what one of the ladies were talking about? They were talking about letters that they had been receiving lately. The lady had said something like....'all those letters....do you really think that he's going to...' before they had spotted us. Or spotted me, in particular."
"So you think that your brother has been sending letters to your household?" Erza asked, the one that seemed to be able to magically part through the crowd effortlessly. She really had an amazing aura.
"Yes....but I don't think it was meant for the household. You see, all the mail that we recieve, even if it's for an individual, will go through a check by the servants, to make sure that nothing dangerous was within them. That's what my father had told me, at least. But now...I think part of the reason for that check was also to keep pieces of mail that my parents didn't want certain people to see. Specifically...me. Since I was the only child of theirs in the home," Aramantha explaind to us.
"Those letters....you want to check if those letters were from your brother, addressed to you, don't you?" I pieced everything together.
Aramantha nodded, biting her lip, "I want to believe that my brother was a good person. I don't think he would have left the house without leaving a trace behind. I don't think he would be as bad as to leave his younger sister alone, especially since he left because he knew how.....how hard it was to live in the same house with....with our parents."
"I want to believe that as well," Gray surprisingly spoke up. I glanced at him, and he smiled back at me, "I want to believe that it doesn't matter how you were raised by your parents. I think that what decides what kind of person you are isn't up to your parents, but entirely up to yourself."
And I didn't know if he had meant for me to hear it or not, but when he stopped talking, he had paused for a moment, and hesitated. And I felt like he was almost smiling when he had whispered, more to himself than to anyone else...
" I have a perfect example of that right beside me."

The shock on the servant's face when he answered the door was priceless. He had stared at Aramantha like she was a ghost, mouth agape, for a few seconds before he seemed to catch a hold on himself, and hastily bowed.
