In another world; ch 33

Juliet’s POV.

Zac was still grasping my hand. We were running towards the woods. Snow was now starting to fall. “Where are we going?” I asked him. “Well, we’re going towards the woods. I’m going to teach you how to fight.” He said, and I could feel the grin in his voice. “Fight,” I squealed. “I’m not a violent person! Unless I need to be.” I whispered the last part. “Yeah, well if Markus ever comes back, you’ll need to learn how to fight- If one of us isn’t there.” He said. I didn’t argue with him. He led me towards the middle of the woods, and we stopped. “Okay, first. You run. You do know that, right?” He asked. I nodded. “Second, you can throw something at someone who’s coming after you. Third, you knee them. Where do you knee them?” He said. My face burned a bright red, and I looked away, already knowing the answer. “In their stomach?” I said, giving him a dumb answer. He shook his head, pointing to his crotch. My face turned a shade of pink, and Zac laughed. “Punch me.” Zac said. “Excuse me?” I asked. He gestured with his hands. “Punch me.” He repeated. “I will not!” I shouted. “Well, I’m not going to hit a girl, because well… you’re a girl.” He said. I threw a punch at him, and it hit him right in his face. He rubbed his chin. “You’ve definitely got punching down.” We both laughed. “Try shifting.” He said. I bit my lip, and before I knew it, Zac shifted into a wolf right before my eyes. I sighed, relaxing my body. I concentrated. I looked around. Now, I was shifted into a wolf. ‘You’re going to have to try and shift faster.’ Zac said. I nodded, and he said, ‘Now, if you’re going to attack someone, do it from behind. I know you don’t want to hurt anyone, but this is a near death situation. Attack me.’ I shook my head. ‘Then, I’ll have to come after you.’ Zac thought, a grin appearing upon his furry face. ‘No!’ I thought back, but he was already running towards me. I sidestepped, causing him to run pass me. He then tried to pounce on me, but I dodged it. I snuck up behind, biting him gently. He let out a low growl. ‘Was that good? Did I hurt you?’ I thought. ‘That was great, and no, you didn’t hurt me. It’s kind of… turning me on.’ He said, with a wink. I laughed, and Zac said, ‘Come on, let’s keep practicing.’ And we kept practicing.

About 2 hours later, I was back in my room in jeans and a sweater. It was freezing. Zac went downstairs to do something, so I was sitting on my bed playing with my guitar. I had my head down. Someone then came in. “Hey Zac, what do you think of this song?” I asked, and looked up. It wasn’t Zac. Ryan was holding a blue mug in his hand, steam rising around his sad looking face. We stared at each other for a few minutes, and he finally said, “Zac told me you were cold. I bought you coffee; I wanted to make myself useful.” He quickly walked over to me, handing me the cup. I looked down at the steamy hot coffee, then back up to him. Without hesitation I put the cup to my mouth, taking a long sip. I ignored the burn in my throat. A smile grew upon Ryan’s face, but quickly disappeared. “Thank you. A lot. And, you’re not useless. Not at all.” I said simply. He gave me a confused glance. “Thanks.” He hesitated before asking. I picked up my guitar, but put it back down because I wanted to say something. “Hey, Ryan-“ I stopped myself. He wasn’t in the room anymore. I sighed, putting my head against the headboard of my bed.

Zac’s POV.

“How’d it go?” I asked Ryan. He shook his head. “I’m so awkward.” He said, putting his face in his palms. I sighed, saying, “Look, I’ll talk to her.” Ryan looked up, tears filling the corners of his eyes. It was killing me; seeing him like this. I hated it. I wanted to run away from it, from it all, but I knew that it would never, ever do anything. He sniffed, saying, “I’m going to go to bed.” He got up, and within seconds he was out of my sight. “Fast bastard,” I muttered, running a hand through my golden brown hair.

Juliet’s POV.

Ryan walked back into the room, wiping his face. I looked at him with confusing. Was he crying? He walked over to the closet, lifting his shirt up from his head. He threw on pajama pants, and then walked over to the bed, now looking at me. “What are you doing?” I asked him. “Going to sleep downstairs. On the couch.” He said, picking up a pillow. I grabbed his arm. “No.” Was all I said. He hesitated for a moment, and then proceeded to climb into the bed, on the same side as me. Only this time, he turned to face the wall. “Goodnight.” He muttered. I could slowly feel my heart breaking. I jumped up, turning my lights off. And that was the first night that I did not sleep with Ryan’s arm around my waist. And, that was the first night Ryan was dreaming. In Ryan’s dream, Zac and I were there. We were in the forest, under the silvery moon. I could not see Ryan, but I knew he was around. Then, Zac did something unexpected- he kissed me.
