[cayman islands - kings of convenience]

i woke up in my great-grandma's bed with a teddy bear that i owned back when i was 3 by my side; everything felt heavy and familiar somehow.

"grandma?" the child's voice echoed through the slightly opened door. "grandma, where are you?" i saw the little girl rush towards downstairs, making me push myself up to see what was going on.

as i opened the door, i sneakily went downstairs so no one could see me. the child turned out to be my younger self with my great-grandma. since i wanted to see what was happening, i hid behind her cupboard near the living room.

"mummy said we can go to the playground tomorrow!" the little girl cheered and jumped around, making me smile at the thought of myself being an innocent little kid.

"well, that's wonderful to hear!" my grandmother smiled as she cupped her hand on the little girl's cheek. "you know, i have a small gift for you. i thought that maybe you would like it."

"really?" her eyes gleamed, making grandma chuckle as she took out something from an old looking box. i (my present self) went a little closer to them since i realised they couldn't see me.

"i bought these just for you." grandma took two pieces of hair clips as it glimmered across the room, making young y/n turn around to see where the light from the clip went. it was golden-coloured and had a red flower at the tip of the clip.

"wow... shiny..." she said in a funny way which made me giggle, thinking how adorable i was before. "can i wear it?"

"of course, let me help you..." grandma then placed one of the clips to little y/n's left side of her hair then the other one to the right. "there, now your playmates will think you look more beautiful when you go back to the playground. but of course, you still are pretty with or without it."

"i sure hope so," she frowned. "jane said that she can't go to the- to the playground anymore."

"well, maybe some of your friends will still be there in the playground." grandma tried cheering her up. "if they aren't, there's no problem with making new friends, right?"

"i-i guess..." all of a sudden, she sneezed twice without covering her nose.

"are you okay?" grandma immediately took a tissue from her pocket then wiped her nose. "always make sure to cover your nose when you sneeze, alright?"

"yes grandma," small y/n nodded her head as she giggled then hugged her tightly.

as i saw them hugging each other, a huge wave of nostalgia hit me hard. i started to miss my younger self and my great-grandmother; i wanted to go back in time.

the thoughts inside my head started getting louder and louder, making me shed a tear and scream.

"y/n?" i heard grandma's voice echoing inside my mind. "y/n?"

"grandma, i miss you." i replied with a heavy heart. "i want to be with you and grandpa." a few seconds later, she didn't respond. "grandma? grandma, where are you?"

i felt someone hold my hand, making me slowly open my eyes.

"good morni-" before robin finished his sentence, i pushed myself up then hugged him tightly without hesitation. "whoa, what happened?"

"i- uh... sorry, i just- i had a dream about something." i shook my head and rubbing my eyes. "just... forget that happened. i'm sorry if i freaked out all of a sudden, robbie." i pushed myself up then let out a sigh.
