(continuation of chapter sixteen :>)
[fool - cavetown]"for a moment, we'll just stop here for awhile..." i spoke as i parked near a convenience store.
"is this the second stop that you're telling me?" she asked as she hopped off the bike.
"no, but i'm just going to buy something." i replied as both of us went inside the store.
"ooh, okay. what are you gonna buy?" she asked.
"something." i went to the fridge (is that what is called or whatever), opened it, and took a bottle of water from it.
y/n was walking around the store looking through price tags and picking up snacks that she wasn't really going to buy.
as i was trying to follow her, i noticed a few m&m packs on the shelf. i decided to take one or two of them and go to the counter.
"m&m's, really?" y/n questioned.
"what? what's the problem?" i asked her while both of us fell in line to the counter.
"m&m's are unhealthy;" she replied. "i've heard that the ingredients of the food colouring contains harsh chemicals, causing the consumer having cancer or something. i don't know."
"you don't eat these anymore?" i pointed on the two m&m's that i was holding.
"not really, i just haven't eaten them since.. like three months ago, i guess?" she chuckled. "oh, also, i've heard that they banded the red m&m's before. but then they got them back in the market, ignoring what the food colouring contains."
"so, you don't like m&m's anymore?" i asked her, she crossed her arms.
"kind of, i guess so... yeah. i think." she shrugged. all of a sudden, it was our turn to be on the counter.
i gave the stuff that i bought and paid them.
"wait, you don't have to pay. i'll pay it instead so you don't have to worry about-"
"what? no, you don't have to. it's fine. i still have enough money with me." i replied.
"are you sure?" she questioned. "because-"
"um.. sorry to disturb you missy, but you're making the waiting line longer." the guy from the counter cuts. y/n looked back and noticed the other customers looking a little pissed because of the line getting longer.
"oh, um, sorry. i apologise." she muttered. the guy from the counter took the money that i gave him, put the bottled water and the two m&m's in a paper bag, then handed it over to y/n.
"sorry, again. i- uh.. we. yeah, we'll be uh leaving now..." she awkwardly took the paper bag from the guy's hand then both of us got out from the store.
"sorry about awhile ago, i'm usually like that when it comes to human interactions." she handed me the paper bag that she got from the store.
"it's okay, i understand." i gave her a smile. i took one of the m&m's from the paper bag then ripped it open. i tried offering her one.
"no thanks, i'm good." she shrugged.
"you didn't want to try it anymore when you found out about what it contains, huh?" i questioned her.
“..kind of,” she admitted. “or, i guess, maybe because i'm not in the mood for sweets right now.” she chuckled.
“just try and get one, sweeten up your life up a bit.” i ate a few m&m's.
