maylin + pov

"you know how proud i am of you right?" luke smiled at me from across the lunch table. i nodded and looked down at the bag of gummy bears in my lap.

"hey." luke whispered. "don't be sad okay maylin? you don't deserve to stay in a place like this. we worked hard together to get this far and here you are. you'll be leaving soon." he tried to cheer me up.

"but what about you? you haven't done anything wrong in so long but they still won't let you leave." i frowned.

it was true. luke had gone so long without hurting anyone. he even made friends with some of the people in here. the most he's been offered was a transfer from here to a prison for a life sentence.

"ill be okay. as long as your out of here and happy. that's all i care about maybear. just you." he grabbed my hand and rubbed circles over it with his thumb. "we'll always keep in touch."

luke and i had talked about what would happen when i left. i'd move in with my sister and visit luke as much as possible and when we can't visit we'll write.

luke and i both got up and headed towards our usual morning therapy when one of the head nurses stopped us. "you two have a visitor. a former patient."

we both looked at eachother puzzled but followed her to the glass booths.

on the other side sat tate and another girl. "hi guys." he smiled talking through the minimal holes in the glass provided to hear from instead of the shitty phones they use in jails.

"tate.. how you been?" i asked. "great actually. i met someone as you can see." he nodded toward the pretty blonde girl beside him. "violet." she smiled waving at us.

"i'm luke. this is maylin" luke nodded back at her. "when are you getting out maylin?" tate asked cautiously, not sure how luke would react to his question. "a few days actually." i smiled grasping lukes hand trying to comfort him before he got upset. "wil you two still be together?" violet asked curiously. "of course. nothing will change, we'll visit as much as possible and write to eachother." i spoke.

"do you think they'd let her behind the glass? you know to physically be with me?" luke asked with hope in his eyes. "yeah definitley. we had the choice but knowing who all we have back there, i didn't want violet to have to witness it." tate smiled. lukes face lit up and he gave my hand a light squeeze.

before we could cook up a new conversation, one of the officers who stays in the lobby at all times interupted. "visitation hour is over."

we each stood to our feet and said our goodbyes. that was most likely the last time we'd all see eachother.

omfg guys im so sorry i haven't updated in forever! i had a lot of personal things going on and grades to get up and blah blah blah. i just want to tell the people that were asking that unfortunately no, im nt doing a sequel. i can barely keep up with this story let alone the oher two i have. also, giving a sequel would probably guarentee a happy ending right? but it's not always like that. stories don't always end all happy and nice. i hope you can understand.
